KCS GP40-2

Unread postby wlenz781 » Tue Jul 10, 2018 1:22 pm

I have been working on creating some repaints of the new GP40-2 models. I have created two versions of the KCS grey ghost livery. Engines 2950, 2951, 2962, & 2970 are based on the UP model to reflect KCS removing the light from the nose and leaving a plate over the covering. Engines 4772, 4774, 4780, & 4783 are based on the D&RGW model that still have the nose light prior to the year 2000, when they were removed. I would like to be able to add some weathering layers to a few of these engines, maybe even as a separate install option. I also hope someone is able to fix the cabview issues as well.

What's your problem with the cabview issues?

From the outside, the cab shows up with the missing texture messages. From the inside, you see the original long hood paint.

Down in the children section you will see : <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailVehicles\CabView\exterior_SCL.xml</BlueprintID> only it won't say SCL . Change it to your proper name exterior_whatever.xml.. See if that fixes it.

Do the windows and doors open on this model?

I gave you some bad information before. I'm surprised no one questioned my SCL paint which has the same issue. I suppose if you did what I suggested then nothing showed up. It turns out that in the CabView folder there is a bunch of exterior_xx.bin and GeoPcDx folders. The alteration of the bin file is kind of self explanatory. Since we are not allowed to change the Geos all we can do is tell someone what to change and let them do it. If you want more info or want me to mod it for you either PM me or just ask here.

After looking at your directions, I tried to follow them and discovered the same files. It looks like once again DTG found a way to screw us from having 100% realistic repaints. We can paint the outside, but from the cabview it is going to look wrong. Altering the bin file does not help us since we are not allowed to alter and publish the GeoPcDx files. Unfortunately I had to reinstall Windows and accidentally formatted the second HDD that had these repaint projects instead of my SSD where Windows is installed. I know that I can recreate these easily, once I get past some other work that I have to do this week and next. Hopefully I can get back to this project soon and get them out there for people to enjoy, even if the view in the cab is messed up. If it is not a violation of the EULA, I could include in the readme instructions on how to modify the files to make the cabview work and let people make their own changes.

That's my quasi legal opinion. We won't be changing the Geo just telling people what to do. If you don't have the original main offering you can't do anything with it anyway.
