E8 Re-paints

Unread postby buzz456 » Thu Mar 22, 2018 11:23 am

I'm going to start this topic since I know there will be quite a bit on interest in re-painting this locomotive. If you are going to try one please post it here so we don't end up with people duplicating each other's efforts. And please one at a time.

Any repaint to match the passenger cars we have. The converted MSTS have been repainted by Buzz and others into many schemes will have to do. WP Zephyr and GN Empire Builder weren't pulled by E units IIRC ( but perhaps Burlington Route ??)

C&O would be nice.

Do we have PRR Tuscan Red streamlined cars? Than a PRR pinstripe E8 will go nicely with them, please.

UP had E9's IIRC, is the E8 reasonably close to an E9, then UP Armour Yellow please too.

If anyone wants a fairly good clean template just holler. I'm going to finish the F7 I'm working on before I get into this but I did make this up this morning.

I might do some BN ones, both the silver with black stripes and the e9ams that pulled commuter trains into the 90s

You will see when you unzip that it's named just like the original so if you make a new loco you can just drop it in there and it will make the new clank texture to begin.

I haven't tried a repaint in years, kudos to DTG for the easy layout for it. I usually butcher the texture files, unlike GenericZack's beautiful looking Southern Pacific. I'm not very good at repaints though. I can never settle on what red looks best on CN, I'm thinking I need to darken it.

EDIT: That was dumb, the stripe is backwards.

What I try to do is see if someone else paint job looks good to my eye and if it does match that color for my paint job.

Glad to see this locomotive is easy to repaint. Can't wait to see what the community comes up with. !*cheers*!

Fixed the direction of the stripe. Darkened it a touch.
