Adriana County GP 38-2 repaint request

Unread postby railhead001 » Wed May 04, 2016 9:38 am

Love Steven D. Myers (tagsdm) GP-15 repaints and would really love to see a GP 38-2 version if possible and if not asking to much, maybe a switcher 1200 version too ......

I'd love to see it, too, but the RSC model is not at all repaint friendly in my experience. It's a scattered, disorganized ( to me) hodge-podge of tiny individual polygon colors that may or may not be shared among various parts. It's almost acceptable if you repaint all black like Xdrivers NS version, but if you try other colors you may paint the cab red...and maybe a coupler lever, air hose or windshield wiper or even a single poly on the light mounting. I tried doing a BN whiteface and couldn't even find the polys for just the headlight bracket. The SW10 is like that as well and likely other RSC models. A template might help but they're not supplying one.

Sorry,

Are the NS HH GP38s as bad? Would be cool to see a few of those!

I'm not 100% sure as I don't have those engines. But I would think they're the same except for the hoods. At any rate, I don't have the 20 bucks to find out!!

I'm working on the GP38-2 for O'Brian's route. If I don't slash my wrists before I finish it I'll take on the Adriana while all those obscure parts are still sort of fresh in my mind.

The guy who does the models for RSC smokes crack before mapping them.

Good one, NStrains. Truer words were never spoken, I'd say.

The closest I've come to an Adriana County GP38 repaint is my patched engine, similar to the BNSF patched engine I uploaded a bit ago...

Obvious parentage, just time for a quick name\number stencil and it's on the road.

You have obviously never tried to paint the RSC GP38-2 or you would know that it exists as demonstrable proof. !*lho*! !*roll-laugh*!

Blimey, if an expert like you can't manage it, then, there's certainly no point in me having a try. !*lho*! !*salute*!

Solid color locos are not to bad. Matching up stripes and lettering is a real challenge however the problem and complaint is a whole lot of the little pieces seem to be just scattered all over the place with no apparent ryme nor reason or scale making them near impossible to find. That little round thing sticking out of the short hood and the cap on the top of the short hood have a separate texture somewhere for the sides that after well over a hour I still havent found them. What's more they are three or four pieces and the ones I have found are not near each other.
