How about the Golden Spike Centennial Limited? (aka "The Blue Train")

Unread postby dtrainBNSF1 » Mon Jul 21, 2014 3:48 pm

Seeing as the G-Trax lightweights had been repainted for the American Freedom Train, why not the Golden Spike Centennial Limited from 1969? It was run from New York to Salt Lake City to commemorate the 100th anniversary of completing the transcontinental railroad and was hauled by NKP #759 in special "American Railroad" livery on its tender, as well as a UP Centennial and then-UP 8444 as well as a specially painted GG1.

Details about the train and the consist can be found in this video. I think we could get a reasonably accurate consist using the freeware lightweights:

Haha! I just posted something about this on the Berk Brakes thread! I'm going to try it again.

So are you planning on repainting the lightweights as well?

That depends on if I can get the engine itself done. I'm still VERY new at this. And, I want to finish my whistle pack before summer ends. I know I won't have much time for TS2014 when school starts again.

If I can't do it, hopeful someone else would be able to. Besides, sounds are my department. I just though I would try because I don't want to be seen as one of those guys who make continuous requests without trying to do it themselves first.

Yeah. That's why I decided to take on modifying steamers rather than just make requests for them. I tried repainting back in MSTS days trying to repaint a Big Boy into Full Bucket Line livery but failed entirely !*not-ok*! . So I'll leave the repaints to someone who knows more than I do. I get being busy for school - I'll be a junior in college this semester studying music with a full load of 21 credit hours. If I have free time during the school year I'm doing something wrong **!!bang!!**

The paintwork does look a bit intricate with what I think are silhouettes of Lady Liberty on the corner.

Hmm. That just got me thinking about The Full Bucketniers series on youtube. It would be cool if we could have a FBL for TS2014, then maybe get the series rebooted. Modern L Productions aka gyjg6564167 said the series is open to anyone who wants to use it. When I get my new computer next year, I would like to do a similar series about the NKP Berkshires. (Sorry, for going off topic.)

(Getting further off topic; apologies ahead of time) Well shoot man we've got Luke, Hoots, Conner, (I think) Tyler, Brad & Chris, Steve & Dan because of the MSTS repaints, and Larry just off the top of my head (I was a big fan of the series *!lol!* )

Okay now back on topic !*salute*!
