Just my not so humble opinion...

As far as the paint, probably not from a trademark abiding commercial outfit. From my research, Maytag - yes, washers and dryers - at one time owned the RI trademark. If the sources are to be relied upon, Iowa Interstate has the trademark now. I cannot confirm this though, as they did not take my inquiry about it seriously enough to even answer it.

For the non-db, don't know about the 38 but the former RF&P units in the CSX 40 pack will come close, except for the external difs on top and under the hood.

I have mentioned it before, but I am holding on to the hope that a non-dynamic 38 will be a "sequel" to the GP-40 project. Yes we now have The RSC and Justin's 38',but they are useless to me with dynamics. As a general rule,I am against duplication, and some will say we already have those GP-38's/ 38-2's. But a VRC-quality version would get my money.
