BNSF GP38-2: RSC and Barnez?

Unread postby ET44C4 » Sun Sep 18, 2016 11:11 am

I have a quick question to ask. People make repaints for the BNSF GP38-2 by RSC. The Racetrack route comes with a BNSF GP38-2. Could some of the repaints for RSC's BNSF GP38-2 work on the GP38-2 that comes with the Racetrack route?

If im correct. the models are the same. I'm not sure if the textures are the same for either model. what you could do is just move the textures over into the gp-38 that came with chicago and see if it works.
Da Build: Intel Core I5-9600k, Nvida RTX 2060 Super, 32 GB ram, and way too much storage.

Alright, but I don't have RSC's GP38-2. That's why I was wondering if the repaints would work on the Racetrack's GP38-2.

Get one of the repaints from here of the RSC GP-38 and just stick the textures into your Racetrack jeep and see what happens. Just eyeballing them they look the same. !!det!!

Most of RSC's models are usually the same. The Stevens Pass GP38 is the same exact thing as the RSC GP38. The only difference is that some of the logos and texture names will be different. I've converted the Kuju UP F7 onto the Empire Builder model. It works fine, just the numbering is wacky and the texture re-naming process takes some time.

I'm pretty sure Barnez made the GP38 for the Racetrack, to me they seem to be nothing alike, and not for nothing the GP38s from Barnez has duel AC on the roof of the cab, so if they'd work with them or not Idk

The GP38 in the racetrack is the same as the one in Stevens pass. It's made by Gtrax. The RSC one is different, you can try to move the texture folders but I don't think it will work.

Okay, thanks for the information. I don't have Stevens Pass yet by the way.

The original model is from DTG, but G-Trax has heavily reworked it.

I'm going to try and use the ADCX GP38-2 repaint for the BNSF GP38-2 pack by RSC for the GP38 that came with the Racetrack route. Do I need to rename any textures or geopcdx files before I test it?

Just a FYI my young friend the GP38 is one of the hardest locomotives in the stable to do a good re-paint on. It has bits and pieces all over the place. If you do something with a solid color it might be manageable for a rook but otherwise I wouldn't advise it. If you just back up your original texture file you can paint the original without having to make any changes to the files. You lose the original while you are playing with the new one but it saves you from having to learn all about making and changing bins and such.
