Florida East Coast R.R. ES44C4

Unread postby mysterytrain » Sun Nov 16, 2014 8:22 pm

Here's an idea for a future repaint, an FEC R.R. ES44C4.

If there's no C4 model to work with, perhaps another engine type would be befitting of this fine paint scheme?

Anyhow, just an idea.

I'd say about 10 feet.
Closer than that and the railway cops are all over you.

I didn't take the picture - got it off Facebook. Just thought it would be a good idea for a repaint project for someone sometime down the road. **!!2cents!!**

I guess I wasn't clear enough. Which locomotive available to us would be the closest one that we could do a repaint on it?

I would think the ES44DC is the best we can do

Wouldn't the ES44AC be closest because it has the big AC box on the left side?

Honestly unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be much difference. On the prototype the main thing are the trucks. Somebody is going to show me the difference in a picture of the visual difference in the AC and DC. !**duh*!!
Also the later ones while more difficult to paint look to have more detail. What's anyone's pleasure?

There is no external difference between an ES44AC and DC except the production variations like ladder and light placements.
There is a difference with the trucks on a C4 however, as they have two additional brake cylinders on each truck that connects to linkage and a lifting assembly to lift the center axle off of the rails just a bit.

Which we don't have so we have to go with one of the others. It looks like the Sherman Hill and the Marias Pass ones share texture schemes so I could use it and then folks could use it if they owned either route.
