Attachable EOT's ?

Unread postby mountainrail2012 » Mon Dec 28, 2015 11:39 pm

Is there anyone able to build attachable (Red light flashing) EOT's for Engine's, or freight cars that we can add to our consists? It seems as though most, if not all of them are hard attached to freight car's making it impossible to use for pusher loco's. The one that seems to be in the freight car selection is dead! Thank you Ken

Both the cars of Sherman Hill and The Race Track automatically have EOT. If you put a pusher at the end then they are not there. There may be rolling stock from other routes also but those two I am sure have them.

Thank you for the reply, the subject I was trying to get out there is the fact that you cannot go into the Scenario Editor, in the Freight Car pull down and choose an EOT to attach to the rear of a Pusher Locomotive or Freight car that does not have one already attached by default. There is always an EOT attached to the rear of every consist on the main line in real life in the US and Canada whether it is a freight car or a pusher type locomotive. This might be the wrong place to ask for this but the new cars(Roadrailers) that came available in the last RCAP update had the best looking EOT out there and I had hoped that the developer of that unit would possibly check out how hard it would be to develop such an add on. Thank you for your time Ken !!*ok*!!

That's not completely accurate. The UP that runs by me does not have a EOT if there is a locomotive on the rear. It has the headlight on dim.

It turns out if you look in the Sherman Hill assets you will see that there is a separate EOTD folder in there so a separate device does already exist. What makes it appear or not is something I have yet to discover.

The freight cars from the Stevens Pass route have an EOT device that appears on the rear coupler only when the train is in motion.

Also, on the CP trains in my region there are no EOT devices mounted on the rear DPU loco.

On Sherman Hill the train does not have to be in motion. The EOTD appears when you turn on the headlight. I still have no idea what makes it work.

It is a child object that is part of the geo file.

!!**sorry**!! Good morning, my statement about all trains in the US having an EOT attached to the rear of every consist was wrong. The trains that run through our area (UPRR Roseville Service Unit ) might be mandated to use them because of all of the grass, and forest fires as well as derailments caused by all sorts of problems with hardware dragging, brakes dragging and catching Axle oil box's on fire or broken wheels. I think I remember either the State of California, or US Forest Service forcing the Railroad company's to use this equipment after several nasty incidents happened. I have tried to connect the "floating" EOT that is in my Editor and it won't light up being attached to any other freight car other than the car that it belongs to. And that is already attached coming out of the box. Thank you again for the help. !*salute*!

As Bob said it is part of the model so other than altering the Geo file these can't be added. I guess just make sure you have one of these cars on the back of your train is the best we are going to do for now.

I made and have the source files for the EOTD and can make it available if anyone wants to tinker (pm me), but they are normally set up as a fwrd/rear light node on every wagon that is part of the wagon geometry file. over riding this will be difficult.

On the NS line I railfan the BNSF run through coal trains don't have EOTs on the DPUs. Just dim headlights.

That's because the dimmed headlights serve as an EOT.

Eyein12 has a pack available where there is Ann EOTD as a separate railcar that can be placed at the end of any train. I believe it was the most recent pack that it is in
