Quite a short train for 4 BN SD40-2's don't you think?

Well, Trainsimulator has it´s limitations regarding physics and engine performances. *!sad!*

True, but I've tested this before in a scenario, 5 SD40-2's on the head end and 2 on the rear will pull 110 coal gondolas up the east side of marias pass without stalling, which is actually prototypical. So in theory 4 SD40-2's should pull around 65 cars, add 1 dpu to the back and it should be able to make it up the pass with 80 cars which is a realistic load from the BN era. Most of the US diesel locomotives currently in game released on steam are fairly accurate for what they can pull, this excludes the Dash9's and the default ES44AC. The locos really reach their powerband with a heavy load around 15-30mph and hold that speed with ease, again which is fairly realistic for a heavy coal train like the one you would like in your scenario. I encourage you to set up a train which like what I have described and run it up the pass and see how it feels, you will actually be able to "feel" the weight you are pulling and its actually fun trying to lug up the hill at slower speeds in notch 8! (and by the time the train starts slowing down you will already be in speed zones that are 30mph or less)

This train runs with four SD40-2´s and with 63 lodad coal hoppers. I think that should do the trick here *!!wink!!* BTW: the BN scenarios are written by Michael Stephan (GreatNorthener).

But anyway, thank you very much for your detailed information. This is highly appreciated and als important for me/us to create realistic american content. !!*ok*!! *!!thnx!!*

So far, I have the Pro Line: BN freight on Marias, the Basic Line: Pacific Surfliner passengers and freight (picked those up along with the VNHRR), now gonna pick up the new Pro Line: Empire Builder on Stevens Pass. (shouldn't be too hard to swap in Great Northerner's Empire Builder set)

I really like the quality of your scenarios, Andi. Top notch and a good bargain! Well done! !!*ok*!! !*salute*!
