It seems like they are doing less and less 'teasing' with screenshots and information about the major releases. I remember back about a year ago when they'd post frequently about upcoming products and share quite a bit of information with us on social media. To me I just haven't noticed a lot of things being said about new products ahead of time like it use to be. Perhaps this is just my perception?
The answer may well depend on where one looks for promotion.
http://www.Railsimulator.com used to be RSC's one and only place to announce and promote new DLC, updates to old DLC, major upgrades to the simulator, and so forth; now that site sometimes drifts along for weeks without any noticeable changes. Then they launched their "blog", Engine Driver" (
http://www.engine-driver.com), which they use for what they call communications, some of which include links to the DLC store. They also have a Facebook site (
htpps://www.facebook.com/railsimulator, where most of their shameless product promotions appear now; these tend to be redundant (four or more iterations of the same information are not unusual: only the dithering and usually unrealated comments from visitors change). This is where the "teasing" you mentioned takes place, except for those "tweets" (mostly from twits) that show up at the bottom of Railsimulator.com. RSC has become wary of promising specific release dates, not surprisingly, given all the drubbings they've suffered when a new product didn't show up for sale on Steam at the precise day and hour named by RSC (do people camp out in front of their computers, like those pitiful Christmas shoppers shown all too frequently on American television?).
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I do check all on the sites I've mentioned on a regular basis, for which I should probably sign up for addiction therapy of some kind. My only excuse for this absurd behavior is that I'm retired and also looking for breaks from scenario editing. As long as I'm in a confessional mood, let me admit that responding to posts here at RWA has also become common for me, even when I'm not particularly interested in a given thread.
