I think I'm more excited for this route than I've ever been for any other...

I sure agree. This ought to be a good one except for the usual whining and moaning about the sounds and the same old models totally forgetting this should just be about the route. I've learned to mainly tune them out.

SD35 an all-new model (in five liveries) from DTM; GP9, GP40-2, and SW-switchers in new liveries and further modified. All locomotives have extremely authentic air brake (26L, 24L, and 6BL) and throttle functions as developed for the route by Mike Rennie of Smokebox.

Hmm, route by High Iron, and locomotive physics by Smokebox... I might have to consider getting this one!

Definitely wasn't expecting this one, but it's sure to be a good addition to the collection. The new assets all look really good and the foliage has that Appalachian feel to it. One thing that might be worth passing on to the team, there appears to be a missing asset at the Cumberland B&O station: Image
Nothing gamebreaking, but worth having a look at before release. Great to see a portion of the WM line also included with this one. Loving the choice of era too, Chessie orange is always good for a splash of color against the trees. Lots of places to go elsewhere in the region, I certainly wouldn't say no to a Metropolitan or Keystone Sub route in the future *!!wink!!*. Can't wait to see some more screenshots of this in the coming weeks.

Only the behaviour and operation of the brakes, plus the slack action on the couplers, and some other minor enhancements. I haven't touched the locomotive physics (horsepower, tractive effort, weights, etc.).

I'm curious as to how much WM trackage is included outside of 30 miles of the Thomas Sub. Mainly the WM main out of Cumberland that follows the B&O Keystone Sub through the narrows. Would make for some neat screenshot opportunities. :D

Hi, the WM is included in full detail from Cumberland depot to Hampshire Mine, just around the corner from Piedmont paper mill / W. Va. Jct. All the connecting lines (WM Junction, Piedmont, Hampshire, and the two lines up through the Narrows) have been built as AI "exit-to-portal" lines.

Cheers,
Michael

I do not remember the last time I purchased a route a full price, upon its release. But they have me on this one. I live 2 hours west of Grafton,on the abandoned B&O "Ohio" division, and this route has meaning to me. I am seeing many new route-specific structures, and always love those Chessie colors!

Just wondering whether we will be able to make scenarios using CSX power and freight cars set in, say, the early 2000s. I don’t know how much of the infrastructure of the route had changed since the period chosen but with good availability of CSX models, it would provide an additional dimension.

For those on here who have collected ‘CTC Board’ magazine over the years, there was an excellent article about the CSX Mountain Sub in the November 2005 issue.

Considering the route is set in the Chessie era, I think an 80 - 90's CSX operation would be closer to what you're aiming for. Early 2000's is a bit of a stretch, but at that time there was still a small amount of Chessie/Seaboard equipment still not painted up yet so you should be able to get away with making scenarios for that era. Most of the WM Thomas Subdivision now lays abandoned as CSX has chosen to use the much easier B&O Keystone Sub (you can still see the WM Thomas Viaduct today), but other than that I don't think much has changed, other than a few mines, branches, and general scenery changing.
