I'm actually surprised TSW had that many users using it. Keep in mind that these numbers don't count those that use these sims offline like I do with all my single player games. I think TSW is going to die a slow death if they don't ever release the editor. And at this rate, we will never get that editor.

The above discussion (and numbers) omits the console side and thus paints an incorrect picture of the vitality/growth of TSW.
As for the statement "And at this rate, we will never get that editor ..." understandable frustration about the delays in release of an editor, but otherwise pure conjecture.

Playstation game stats from Gamestat for TSW new players from 10 April - 10 May +5800, Total layer count 160,000 You can make your own assumptions as to where the market is.
https://gamstat.com/games/Train_Sim_World/You are correct, the largest market niche for TSW appears to be geared to the console crowd. No editors needed for PlayStations.

It's the same for Construction Simulator. Sigh.

There is no saving TSW. This game has been far over-hyped and has performed far below what has been promised. Many empty promises long forgotten by DTG. Multiplayer, an editor... TS1 will always be far superior to this dumpster fire of a simulator. We are able to freely create whatever we wish and have far more freedom within the game. TSW caters to console players. It is plagued with short routes and childish physics and mechanics. Dovetail needs to take a hint that it has created a "simulator" that was not. It will never become profitable for them. That's just my two-cents, but by all means, those who wish to continue to call me out for speaking my mind, go on and prove me wrong.

Remember TSW comes out on 3 platforms and I think that the Xbox and Playstation versions are doing pretty good. There is lots of content being released for TSW at the moment and if DTG thought it was going to fail why would they.

When a boat is sinking, the paddling rate increases. Human nature?
I bought TSW as soon as it was released, I have “played” 6 hours since. Disappointment is too soft a word. It had a lot of promise but .... Now if it had TS20xx playability with TSW graphics then you have a product.

Dovetail isn't dying, they upset the computer base too much and are finding much more success on consoles where people aren't as picky and graphics mean everything, which flashy graphics are their selling point afterall

I think that you hit it with this statement. With the console crowd, all you need is content. The DLC of the week and less technical issues to deal with.

I remember to have made a posting here, but cannot find it back?
Anyway, it is obviously good for DTG's finances TSW sells well on the console market.
And the players like they can drive trains with a gamepad. Speaking for myself, I cannot imagine this, so I'll stick and am stuck with the PC version, while my RailDriver sits idle ....

If console sales are strong for TSW and that cash flow allows DTG to stay in business and continue releasing DLC for TS2020 then that's really only a positive for those of us who prefer TS2020, whether we like TSW or not.
