So, a DLC bundle with 9 new scenarios? OK I guess for someone who doesn't own any of those DLCs.

I love how the description says... "features a torturous 1.5 percent westbound climb". They are calling a route that has soft curves and only a 1.5% grade "torturous"! !*roll-laugh*! Maybe if a locomotive or two went offline on a long heavy train climbing it, might it fit that description.

This one is gonna be a hard call. I don't have any of the 3 steam locomotives or the GP-40s, but I have all the other DLC content in it. It's a great package for people who don't have any of it. But for those that do have most of this stuff, it comes down to the price for all the DLC we don't have versus the prices for the same stuff sold separately. Also comes down to if we really want the stuff that bad. If I didn't purchase it before, maybe it's because I wasn't that interested in it in the first place.

The 9 all-new scenarios sounds really cool. Bring on the price. Will most likely buy it during a big sale. I've been too busy playing my backlog of games to play TS2020 lately. So I'm not exactly chomping at the bit for this package at the moment. Kudos to DTG for offering it though. !!*ok*!!

I'm not entirely sure why DTG thinks its a good move to bundle a route from 2012 and a bunch of old and outdated locomotives together as a "new" bundle. They are pitiful at this point. Just remake the route or something. Re-releasing old content is pointless and looks really bad on a company. Thank God for third party developers, because without them, this game would be long forgotten.

Throwing some of the newer guys a bone??? From the picture, it might be using the original Big Boy from Smokebox because it does not have a shiny cylinder caps like the latest one has.

It isn't finished yet.

The long grade on the east slope of Sherman Hill is no easy task for heavy freights ... I doubt Union Pacific built the low-grade Harriman Cutoff (Track 3) alternative just for the heck of it ....

Throughout the history of retail retailers have repackaged and bundled. DTG are doing this and for those who don’t already have the bundle contents, why not. Sherman Hill has loads of assets invaluable to newcomers and we need newcomers or the hobby dies. Just cause it doesn’t suit you doesn’t mean it’s bad. I have the stuff in the bundle that I want but 5 years ago I would have loved the then equivalent. A good way of rapidly expanding. It all depends on the price.

Just a minor clarification - the original Big Boy was made by Paul Godber, who traded as Iron Horse House ("IHH"). It was updated to v2.0 by DTG (I think) and tweaked again by someone (not sure exactly who) for the Wasatch route. The version I'm doing is the first time I've done a Big Boy (or any kind of articulated).

Before the Wasatch and after the so called version 2.0 DTG released two (or maybe three) tweaks of the BB.
All three modifications, along that original 2.0, where outstanding failures of the Big Boy physics only saved by patches like those by DtrainBNSF1 and other people mods.

It's an easy task relative to the plenty of 2%+ routes in the west, with track 3 on Cajon Pass hitting 3%. How easy or hard it is to tackle a grade depends on the HP/T, power placement and adhesion levels. Not to mention the distribution and angle of curves on the route.

As for the Harriman Cutoff? It wasn't built for nothing, but it was built at a time when railroads were still transitioning from steam to diesel. AC locomotives have much higher adhesion levels than the old DC units. If UP had AC locomotives at the time, would there still be enough of a reason for the lower grade Harriman Cutoff to have been built? That's up for debate. I'm leaning towards no.

The pack would be a good value for a Union Pacific fan who is new to the sim. Collectively over the years I've spent about $90 CAD on the included assets, including some purchased while on sale. This is certainly a move by DTG to try and squeeze some last revenue out of older, slower selling assets.

Thank you for the correction.

They could at least have improved the look of the route. It always seemed very poor, the scenario ...

With all due respect this has always been one of the routes I have really enjoyed. What don't you like about it and what do you mean with that incomplete sentence?
