You have, of course, not yet run the route and apparently are unfamiliar with (and have not bothered to check) the grade profile of the line before making the cynical comment. Yes, it is upgrade eastbound and downgrade west, but there is much more to it than that. On the lines (which include considerable grade separation) there are significant variances in gradient and the route is in fact quite interesting (and challenging) to operate on.
