Dont mean to be stepping on Mike's toes, but Buzz's post here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21463 about new user projects etc for Train Sim made me realise I hadnt seen any info on Mike's new project posted here. (shamelessly poached from Farcebook !*roll-laugh*! )

Always start with the wheels;

Front Engine;

Now all he is looking for is somebody to catch up with it in action and recorded some good quality sounds - any takers? I would offer, but I am 15,000 miles away *!sad!* but I guess I will see it in action at some point. Could be both restored 4014 oil burner and as built coal burners. Will be an outstanding addition, knowing Mike's fidelity to his projects and it will look great on Alpen's Heritage Sherman Hill

!*cheers*!

99.9% of users would not be able to rivet count where a castle nut would be prototypical vs a regular hex nut, but Mike stays true to the prototype all the same. !*salute*!

At 30mph, you wouldn't have gotten anything good anyway. The Doppler Effect would have messed it up.

I do hope he at least makes a coal tender version so we can put a mile long freight behind it and charge up sherman hill shaking the rails apart

Mike said he was dating his Big Boy model to the 1945 variant, so a coal variant is confirmed.

At this rate he may as well chop a few wheels off and a few feet of boiler and make a challenger too *!lol!*

It’s already in the line of sight. First the FEF-3, then the Big Boy. A Challenger would complete the collection of UP’s big 3.
