Same usual DTM quality.
Horrid headlight textures
Shiny awful texturing
Sides are flat with almost no detailing
Sounds are same as used in all their other packs
Horn is not realistic. It's choppy and abrupt and soundss like it was made in a synthesizer, not recorded from a real train.
The cars are different heights (upper area of transition baggage and superliner behind it should be same height but they are not.)
I would not recommend it.
Just my honest opinion.
If you really want the engine then go ahead and buy it. I suppose it's nice to have an SDP40F finally in the game but,
This isn't payware quality.

The Hi-Levels and the Superliners differed in height, but other then that everything you said was spot on.

Don't get me wrong. Some of DTM's offerings, like the SD45s and 50s in particular, I love.
I live in Portland OR where the last SDP40F, 644 was restored and ran on a shortline for several years.
It's sad to see DTM's quality slipping, especially on my favorite diesels like the tunnel motors.
Thanks for reading my in-depth roast.

I'm no fanboy however I kind of disagree a bit. Other than not putting a bunch of rivets on the side I think most of the detail is there. I like the echo effect on the end of the horn. I think it's fine. Not as nice as Searchlights but then Searchlight set a new standard with theirs. As far as the engine sound how should it be different when it's the same prime mover?

It is the same 645 prime mover, it just doesnt sound even close to the real thing.
Again, it sounds like it was made with a synthesizer, not recorded from a real engine.

I sold the sounds to DTM, and I can assure you it was recorded from a real locomotive.
From an SDP40, no less lol. I just didn't have the techniques back then that I do now.

The horn is a crappy YouTube rip, the horn source in question was recorded from a distance. Anyone with /actual/ locomotive experience knows it's not realistic at all.

Whatever. There is only what a hundred horns in the library? Or do you just enjoy complaining? My biggest complaint with this offering is the train is empty of people.

Btw, the Hi-Level couplers are missing their textures (Even Matt saw them on his live stream after I called it out).

Quality control is severely lacking in some departments. At least it wasn't a giant mess like Raton was !**duh*!!

One nice thing about the hobby store, its nice to be able to put your grubby mits on whatever your buying, before you do.
Now you have to press the 'Download' button and hope for the best. *!greengrin!*
