DTG catalog mess

Unread postby buzz456 » Mon Jan 08, 2018 9:36 pm

Good grief DTG. Look on Steam and try to find anything. Even go to your so called page and see if you can find stuff. If you are trying to drive us to TSW ok good luck otherwise get your act together and let us find what's there and what's not. You go on the Steam store page right now and it shows no results when you type in TS2018 and after you finally find it good luck finding a complete DLC list.
Rant off.

Code: Select all
if (user == "buzz")
{
   list = catalog("DTG").sort(chaos)
}
else
{
    list = catatog("DTG").sort(decending)
}

show(list)

You'll find that Train Sim or Train Simulator in the search box (in the Store) will pull it up

All the DLCs come up for me, albeit in a somewhat inconsistent order (not fully date sorted, nor alphabetical) but all there including MarketPlace items

That's what I was looking for. *!!thnx!!* For what it's worth it might be Steam that has it messed up. If it is I would be raising you know what every day until they sorted it out. Last night on the main store page if you put in the search page 'TS2018' it came up with no result. If that's how Steam functions then they had better contact Google and get a new algorithm. Further the TS stuff and the Trainz stuff being mixed together is just awful. A newby might well think they are compatible and end up buying content from both and end up happy with neither.

Definitely Steam search needs to be fixed.

"TS2018" is not found because the search is text-based and no DLC title or description text uses the string "TS2018".
They use "Train Simulator" (as in "Train Simulator: Pacific Surfliner® LA - San Diego Route").

There is no advanced search and you can't filter or limit the search (it says "search the store").
So searching for "Train Simulator" and sorting by relevance will list all DLC in the store with "train" or "simulator" in its store page, with those having both terms at the top. This is why it includes some Trainz DLC.

What is needed is a keyword or filter search, but users will find it more complicated.
They use this in the Steam Workshop and it is poorly implemented, for example you must select a DLC from a long list that is unsorted!

I've been using the link posted by gtrtroger since TS2014 and it is the best tool yet, although the results are not sorted. It would be so easy to add a sort field and maybe a filter!

If you go to your steam page when online, right click Train Simulator, select properties ( same procedure to local files and your verify option )...the last tab is DLC, click on it where it shows a list of all your down loaded content you have for this product. Below that, is a link that states " view all downloadable content for this product ".
I have used this procedure since day dot...that link also shows what you have installed on your system ( In Library ).
