It looks like they're continuing the trend of period US routes with this 62 mile line between Springfield, MA, and New Haven, CT. The detail is amazing, and it'll be great to have another '50s route.

This is Michael & Bobs VNHRR. The "final" version is almost ready for release, which is being done via DTG & Steam. Upgrade path for those already owning Ver's 1 & 2 to be determined, although the whole route now will contain an updated and more proto signalling system and a reworking of track and pathing as well as a re-vegetation.

is there a way i could update my vnhrr to the steam version without having to buy it again?

It has been announced there will be a update available to us at a reduced price from Trains & Drivers for those of us who have version 2.

It's a nice set of power - I'm always happy to see the GE-44's. It'll be interesting to see how the S2 compares to Dogmouse's excellent model.

Didn't want to jump to that assumption, but that's great news.

I'm hoping that the numerous scenarios already written for versions 1 and 2 of VNHRR will be compatible with DTG's product and thus eligible for posting at Steam Workshop.

Don't think they will be Oldprof. Not because of anything DTG is doing - v3 of the route has some significant changes.

The upcoming VNH 3.0 won't be fully backwards compatible due to our substantial track and signaling changes. Some of our old scenarios had to undergo major surgery. We think it is an okay price for the vast improvements made, particularly with the new signals and the more accurate (and better functioning) HART junction.

Hi Tom,

If any train, AI or player, in your pre-v3 scenario passed HART Jct in Hartford then it will need to be repathed for V3. What we did was switch the Highland tracks and the Springfield tracks south of HART, we had them the wrong way around in v2. The real crossover of the two lines was directly at Hart, not south of USta like on v2. With v3 it is the right way around on our route now, too. Besides being more prototypical, that also allows a better flow trains along the two double-tracked mains in the south of Hartford and HART Jct has turned into the bottleneck that it was in reality.

Scenarios where no service passes HART should generally work unchanged, though probably need to be opened and re-saved in the editor to update for the signaling and crossover speed limit changes on the entire route.

Thanks, Michael. I'll start checking the scenarios I made for V1 and V2.

Any news on the VNHRR v3 release? DTG had an article on Cedar Hill yard the other day, but no hints as to when we might see this.

The route is currently in beta testing, the development of trains, scenery and all has been completed a little while ago. So it's now just a matter of hoping that we didn't miss too many bugs or flaws before handing it over to the testers.
