Interesting...at first glance I thought the picture of the engineer's cabin was someone's train simulator setup!

This will be a FR gagger unless they keep the scenery pretty simple.

Looking forward to this release, something a little different. :D I just wish they'd be able to get licensing with Japan worked out as I would much rather have the Yamanashi maglev JR Tokai has been running, the one DTG is making is pretty old news based on the pics (Trainz 2006 included the same maglev model, not the route though).

I have ridden on that train. Its boring as heck, though comfy. Its an end to end operation, the crossovers are rarely employed. The scenery is not much to talk about as at least from 4 years ago it was viewing several abandoned or never used appartment complexes from a distance and open land up to the airport.

Here are the better pictures from my phone from 2012.

This route will make a lot of people happy. I know it's a route that's been requested many times. However, this is not my cup of tea. Will pass on this one.

As a disclaimer in case anyone missed it, this is third party DLC.

As much as it has the cool factor I think a route that takes 7 minutes to run is going to get boring very quickly.

What is more interesting to me is that this is the same company that developed the Japanese Shinkansen a number of years back; I'm surprised that DTG isn't taking them up on that route/train

Didn't catch that...they also developed The Story of Forest Rail so I'm curious why they chose this over the Japanese maglev.

If you guys may recall, they had I believe the Tokaido Shinkansen ready to go last year or the year before but ran into issues with JR licensing. JR is pretty prideful about how their railway is displayed and IIRC was pretty strict on how it was to perform as far as realism and quality goes. Two things DTG isn't really well known for.

The Japanese maglev is a test track, whereas the Shanghai one is a fully operational service.

Curious choice for a route?

Has there been any research done as wether people will actually buy this? Or is it being sponsored by its prototype developer/owner?

Maglev are boring, essentially a fixed track airport shuttle, albeit at high speed in this case. When the prototype is entirely automatic, what's the fun of driving it in Railworks?

I'll pass on this one.
