Several Unavailable DLC Items in Steam

Unread postby cor726 » Wed Aug 26, 2015 11:01 am

Looks like the BNSF licensing issue hit a new level today. Any item that has a BNSF logo is unavailable to me including several that were available before. Marias Pass, Stevens Pass, even the GP9 and SW1500 are unavailable. I am happy that I own almost all of them, but I really wish they could come up with a solution /compromise.

I also wonder if we will see an international version of the above DLC. Marias with generic locomotives / stock being released for international users.

I still see the DLC, and I don't think BNSF revoked licensing rights. Weird...

Cor726, when you say 'unavailable' to you, do you mean that they are not visible to you in the webstore, or not able to click the purchase link in the Steam store?

Interestingly the BN F45 is still sold in Norway according to SteamDB. https://steamdb.info/app/222624/ The P42DC Empire Builder strangely is still being sold and has mentions of the Marias Pass route. ATSF wagon pack still sold worldwide: https://steamdb.info/app/256521/

Seriously, f--k BNSF and their so-called licensing. I checked on SteamDB for BNSF items (and those for their predecessor railroads) that the items' prices for international stores are listed as N/A. One of the biggest problems for Canadian players is that there are CN liveries in those packs that have BNSF logos. Also noted the SD70 V2 Vol2 was pulled from international Steam stores.

Interesting. I wonder why the BNSF would pull down more stuff. AFAIK the president (of the BNSF) wants MORE PR considering all the Coal Train BS up here in the northwest.

I'm confused... does anyone know why BNSF is taking down stuff, or is supposedly? I don't see any missing DLC on my end.

DTG are taking down stuff because BNSF won't give them rights to use there logos. There was a issue like this years ago in the flight sim world when a certain airline wouldn't let anyone use there colours. Think it was American Airlines.

So is it just that BNSF doesn't want their stuff outside of the USA then?

That doesn't make sense... why wouldn't they want their company logo in a popular sim?

They are listed but instead of a price it says "N/A".

When I go to the DLC page from my library page on Steam they are listed but without the buy button.

The CSX Marketplace locos are also restricted to only the USA (both) and Japan (ES44AH only).

CSX ES44AH: https://steamdb.info/app/256576/
CSX SD70MAC: https://steamdb.info/app/256611/

According to SteamDB the licensing restrictions took effect on August 24.

Maybe they don't like animated derailments. I remember when plane crash animations where not allowed in Flight Simulator. *!rolleyes!*

I guess it's too much pride, then. *!rolleyes!*

Aww, but you don't get any good animated derailments. At most you get like half a second and then you get booted out of the scenario.

I wish you could do stuff like this in TS2015...
