Note the Ice Breakers on top.

Fooby alert!

SP applied icebreakers to the FP7s and not the F7s - and what's up with the stupid-looking step just behind the plow? No 'F' ever had that! !*hp*!

RSC is sure getting a lot of mileage from my original model. However, I wish they would at least ask someone knowledgeable before doing something as daft as the above. **!!bang!!**
Cheers!

Some Fs did indeed have those forward steps.

FWIW, the photos you show are standard steps (angled steel), while the SP screen posted above is a frame step (casting) - quite a difference in both size and shape. Instead of modeling proper steps (better for this unit to leave 'em off), RSC chose to simply clone a frame step and move it forward. Might as well put truck tires on roller skates. Either way it's just wrong. *!rolleyes!*

I agree they didn't use the proper kind of step.
I was responding to the comment above. "No 'F' ever had that!" more than anything else.
They did have them, but I agree, it wasn't modeled correctly.
Maybe it's a child object and someone can come up with a fix.

I wonder if they added a working Gyra Light?

I should have been clear then - no 'F' ever had a cast step behind the plow.

Here I go nit-picking again...Fs had Mars lights. *!lol!*

Wow - nice find, and I stand corrected. I had looked through a few dozen images and didn't bother to search through all. *!embar*!

Nevertheless, the above unit is still a fooby, as I cannot locate any images of 6190 ever having icebreakers. SP didn't add these willy-nilly, as icebreakers were normally used to protect the domes on passenger equipment, and the unit would have to be permanently assigned from Portland down to Roseville - they would just be a nuisance in So Cal and elsewhere. Perhaps the unit pictured on George's site was an experiment so to protect auto racks up north? Though at this late stage in the life of SP Fs, the shops might not have bothered to add them. I'll have to ask around. I do see quite a lot of Donner/Cascades 6-axle units with these applied, however, so the auto rack theory makes sense.

I was only able to locate one other F7 with icebreakers, 6440, but here's a good shot of 6190 from the espee-railfan site (also good angle of the forward step):

S.P. used ice breakers on Donner units as well because of all the tunnel entrances (forget where I read that) but, I've only ever seen them in the Black Widow livery.
If we want to start rivet counting, the plow is wrong too. It doesn't have steps in the right locations.

If it's already in the Market Place, I think we all know the chances of that being fixed.

Steps? The plow is on backwards! Unless that screen shot at the top of this page is different from what's in the Workshop.

That is the FP7 But you could use the same texture files, rename them and add them to the F7 textures folder and you should get reasonable results!!!! !!*ok*!!
Remember the FP7 is only a stretched F7. *!lol!*
