Amtrak HHP-8

Unread postby dcushing » Mon Mar 17, 2014 11:50 am

This morning the activity loading screens started showing the HHP-8 as "coming soon". It looks like they plan on more support for the NEC routes.

I think they "try" with everything.

Are you hearing the same horns I am? The acela doesn't even have the same horn on the inside as it does on the outside...

I'm certainly not going to argue about something this silly.

There are about a zillion horns out there for you to install so learn how to improve your experience.

It shouldn't be my responsibility to improve the "experience". If the developers want to charge me money for something, I think I have a right to ask if the equipment will have an accurate horn sound or not. And given their track record on previously released equipment, It will not. Apparently it's silly to question if a locomotive will even have the correct horn sound. !*roll-laugh*!

The horn on the RSC Acela sounds a lot like this one I found on Youtube; (It might even be the same audio clip)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkkZP47nxE8#t=51

And compare that to the horn on the real Acela; (I think it's a K5LA?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CClIKnet_zU

Horns don't usually bother me but the horn on the RSC Acela bothered me more than usual. It's probably because of the fact that it doesn't loop and cuts off if you let go of the spacebar, which makes it unpleasant to make short "toots" like what you might hear on the NEC

-Ninja Edit- needless to say that I don't consider this "Experience-ruining" but rather a minor annoyance.

Don't know why there is so much hostility and defensiveness in some of the responses here. Regardless, excited that there will finally be some variation on the NEC. ACS64, AEM7, HHP8 now, things are looking bright!

My favorite loco is getting airtime finally. I wonder if we will see some other Amtrak equipment like the heritage fleet or viewliners or even Amfleet II & Cabcar? I need a pacemaker !*roll-laugh*!
