Hell yea XD. It would be interesting if it was an extension, but I doubt it. It'll probably be a separate route; that way, there's more revenue to be generated.

That is why they are in business.

Plus as Buzz said they are in business for the money not for fun !**duh*!!

I was under the impression that their announcement indicated NEC, just from NY-New Haven. I would hope that includes Metro North and Amtrak.

Haha, it is a WIP, so it could simply just be that they didn't add the wires yet.

Wires are added when the track is placed so this is not possible !!**sorry**!!

They don't have a license for Metro North but judging by the cars in the lot in the picture it is a modern route. !!*ok*!!

How do you know they don't have a Metro-North license?
Also, they could have placed the track with invisible overhead catenary, and are going to place seperate wire lofts down after they are done laying track.

Depending on the track rule, you can add or remove overhead wires manually.

Do Trains still run into New Haven from Grand Central?

!!*ok*!!

My grandparents lived in New London when I was a kid. I always loved the train trips on the Penn Central to NYC!

At no time was the Hellgate bridge ever not electrified. I do hope they include Grand Central, but I'm afraid they probably won't. Though I'm glad to see that they'll pretty much have to include Sunnyside Yard.
It's probably too much to hope, but it would be nice if this became a true extension of the NEC, and existing NEC users were given a discount on the addition.

Overall a mild thumbs up on this route for me. I'm happy with it being in the eastern half of the country to change up from western releases of the last couple years. I just wish it had been the southeastern part since the northeast has a few routes representing it already. The southeast has none.

It was a fairly safe choice. Better than a bad choice. Looks pretty. *!!wink!!*

So did mine! PM me me and maybe we can talk about old times.

Initially, when Penn Station was still an all-DC operation, the New York Connecting Railroad was steam worked, with the New Haven's passenger trains changing engines at Harold Tower in Queens. The AC electrification was extended by the New Haven in stages to Penn Station since the Pennsy was a later and - according to some versions of the story - somewhat reluctant convert to the newer system. This situation didn't last long, but I'd have to look up the exact dates.
