Ok, dumb question, will it just update automagically or is there something we (I) need to do? I know the core game updates by it's self, but I've never been aware of a DLC update before so I don't know how it works.

When it eventually goes to Steam it'll update automatically, but this is a special open beta release for RWA, so you have to install it from the ".rwp" file yourself. It's very simple to do though, using the Package Manager in the Utilities executable in your Railworks folder. The instructions are in the readme inside the zip file.

I love the latest update that black smoke is great you can almost smell it. I made a couple of videos of the Consolidation with the latest update. I ran the Consolidation on my Virginia And Truckee Route I am working on. mrennie asked me to put the links for them here so here they are. I apologize for the red lights on the Engines. I use the Hud version of the Consolidation because I have not learned how to use the Advanced version yet. I made these videos this morning after the update. But I should have gone in and replaced the engines in my scenarios first. I was excited to get them made. It takes along time to upload them on YouTube. Afterwards I went in and replaced them and now the Hud version has no more red lights. Like I said I am putting these here because I was asked to. This is the same type of Steam Engine that is run on the real V&T Scenic Railroad Route.
I deleted these videos on request. Because I used the AI engines for them and I should have used the Hud version.

By the way, I've just realised that I didn't include the updated manual, which is a pity because it has a lot of new details to explain about the advanced brakes, the simulated detents, the dangers of overcharging the brake pipe and what to do if it happens, and lots more. So I'll now upload the manual too. Make sure you read it carefully, especially the bits marked with the blue "change bars" in the margin.

In the videos I can see the idle smoke emitter seems to be stuck open - it's meant to stop when the thick black smoke begins. I'll have a look at that before I send the final version to DTG.

The strange thing is that it works fine in my own version (but maybe I changed something after uploading it to RWA, not sure).

EDIT: Was it the AI Helper version?

I will look for the manual and use it to lean how to work the advanced version of your Consolidation. Is it hard to learn to use the advanced version?
By the way my route in coming along nicely. The first video is at the start of the route. It is located near Carson City Nevada.

That is great that my videos are helping you. If you want me to make more to help test your engine out just let me know. I have almost all of the American Routes except for the new one that was just released. Yes it was the AI helper but I will not use that anymore. I will make a quick new video for you to see with the Hud version.

The route is looking fantastic! Really nice!

I like those vintage passenger cars (or should I call them coaches?) too.

The advanced version can be a bit hard to learn if you don't already know how steam locomotives work (otherwise it should be fairly easy). However, if you read the manual carefully, especially the explanations of how the throttle, steam chest, cut-off and back pressure work together to regulate the power going to the wheels, and the sections on the advanced brakes (paying very close attention to the description of overcharging the brake pipe by leaving the automatic brake in Release for too long), you should be fine.
