True and I would agree in most cases "Bull Pucky!" has been spoken, but in this case, they're doing a nice job, but it really should have gone farther up to Portola. Those that know the route well and have been there would agree on this. Hopefully someone will extend it someday.
....

And the distance from Quincy to Portola is not that long.
Yeah i checked it on google maps and it is 40 miles from Keddie Wye to Portola.
Driving thru the city towns country side and all over da world.

Freight is real railroading. Pax service is subways without the "sub."

I josh. I'm a josher.

I do love freight service. I don't mind the long US cross-country iconic passenger trains, but have little patience for the Northeast commuter rail scenarios, and even less for the tedious UK multi-stop juggernauts. But then I grew up in the American west watching long freight trains. That's all I knew most of my young life. And those sort of doubled as passenger trains for me sometimes, and for others, if you know what I mean.

The tedium on freight runs is long sections of 25 mph limits. If a route has plenty of sidings and interesting industries to service, then there is plenty to do and the railroad life is good.

It makes sense.. It's usually what one has been exposed to the most that they gravitate to. Me, living in New york City, all my life (which I would love to get away from completely), been exposed to Passenger services, more so with Subways, and commuters.. So it's a bit hard, trying to find enjoyment with freight. Though I do own quite a bit of them, for the purpose of having AI in scenarios.

This route will be a best seller and I will mostly run it with long freight trains, from the past with WP and from nowadays with UP and BNSF.
But I have a friend that he is looking forward to this route to drive the California Zephyr:

There is a repaint in the library but it is already getting old and it may need new remakes by F7 experts.

This is Altamont "Pass"... all 1500 ft of it. !*roll-laugh*!
I grew up near there in the Bay Area. S.P. also had a line through there. In fact, what's left of the S.P. line is what makes up the Niles Canyon Scenic Ry.

The pic is about the train, not the route: the Zephyr which went thru Feather River Canyon bound for Chicago.

I am aware of that. I was only commenting on the location because it was home.

I see already several issues with that locomotive. If only we had somone here who has actually been aboard a working example. Being that we are short an expert, I guess i'll have to fill in.

Yea, the best Jerry could do is find someone who had his kids climbing all over the thing while the father was chasing them and trying to take pictures *!!wink!!*

And it's made off of the britkits FP7 (I think),and the one mentioned is more accurate to the kuju F7.
