Use the space bar instead of the hud button.

I use the HUD button and it cuts out, but not with the space bar. Not much of a horn blower myself, but when I do use it cause I am bored or want to scare my cat sitting next to the speaker, I noticed the difference in controls, which makes two different horn blasts.

Ahh, so we're polar opposites! I was a hockey fan before a railfan, and the goal horns in hockey are what brought my attention to trains!

Go to the first page, second post. Open the .ap file with winrar, navigate to the audio folders within, replace the files provided.

I did, and the bell is fixed (though quiet), and I can't download the proxyxml, it opens it up as raw text in a new tab. Nonetheless, I copied and pasted the text into the existing proxyxml and nothing changed.

I must be the only person who uses the horn for the intended purposes.

Nope.....your not.

Then again for me its second nature to use a horn/whistle.

Since were talking about it, does anyone know if they use stop/forward/reverse horn signals when stopping at stations on the Surfliner?

They don't.
Also, note that according to signs, the horns are not to be used up until Anaheim. That's what we found on the time tables, atleast, therefore the signage for crossings reflect QZs.

I'm with you too, I pay very close attention to whistle posts and silent whistle posts...to me that's honestly half the fun! My wife thinks it's "cute", especially when going through one of the segments of continuous level crossings where I'm pretty much on the horn consistently for a few miles...something about channeling my inner child playing with a train horn *!lol!*

I was talking to one of my friends who lives in La Mirada (very close to Fullerton) and he told me he constantly is hearing horns. This video also backs that up:

As far as quiet zones on this route, a lot has changed since January of last year. *!sad!*

Meaning they added them, or dropped them?
