Hows does the "improper horn use" thing work in THIS game?

Just ran 50 min of a 55 min career scenario perfectly then got nailed by a red light as I was pulling into the last siding !**duh*!! !*brav*!

I changed my mind about the route. Its not beautiful, its STUNNING. But I have all my sounds on it now, which I think spanks it up a bit. The track work is top notch, super elevation liquid smooth in and out. Haven't even ran the whole thing yet. I love scenery and hills and this one delivers.

Yes every one so far.

thecanadianrail wrote:Good idea buzz! So the route itself is $40 bucks, but add the SD40-2 pack in and then its 47 bucks which is a steal of a deal ($59 separately). the SD40 pack gives you 4 locos, and an assortment of freightcars (boxcars, coal hoppers, flatcars...etc). You would have to be crazy not to buy the bundle pack imho....now only if steam would let me download faster, the suspense!!!!

Picked up the bundle yesterday and ran the first scenario and I have to say, I am impressed with the route. Scenery is great and frame rates were good.

I tried one scenario with the sw1500 in Kalispel. It looks great (I ignored the missing couplers as that is only temporary).

I was in Kalispel last year and I am amazed how good it looks on TS.

Can't wait to see more of it.

Really pleased that people generally seem to be enjoying the route. Thanks for taking the time to post. :D

But can it be true that literally nobody has looked at the manual? *!sad!*

Marias Pass isn't the simplest of routes to write scenario instructions for, and I did this way back while I was testing things in the hope that it might be useful to someone in the future. It represents the fewest waypoints I could get away with to achieve a west-east run on Main 2. In theory you should be able to copy it straight into a new scenario without too much head scratching. Bear in mind that it's really old and pre-dates platforms and signalling, and the stations are still called depots... Should work though.

One other thing I'd like to point out from a scenario creation point of view is that anything heading west through East Glacier will need routing through the station, otherwise you'll end up being sent through the siding which is a right pain in the bracket, especially if you only discover it after you've driven up from Shelby! **!!bang!!**

I shall try very hard to stop butting into your thread. As you were, chaps. !*salute*!

Oh. OK then. Just for you. *!!wink!!*

Thing is, this isn't my route any more. It's yours (collectively), and I don't feel it's in my gift to spoil anyone's voyage of discovery. Whether that sounds weird or not I don't know, but it's the way things are. As a matter of fact I spent a long while putting a screenshot thread together last night and then deleted it for this very reason.

Here's an informative bit, especially if you like a bit of history:
Check out Kalispell from Google Earth and wonder at what it must have once been like. The site of the original yard site is clear to see, and the station building is now the Chamber of Commerce (for location purposes). When you look at it like this it makes more sense why the track loops round the town as it now does. The remains of the original lines around the wye are interesting too.

It appears to be more difficult to readily get information about historical railroads in America than it is for England. Maybe I don't know how to search properly, but if Kalispell was over here there would probably be entire websites dedicated to its railroading heritage. Seems very strange. !*don-know!*

I uploaded a scenario to the workshop last night of the Empire Builder running on BN's Marias Pass. It goes from end to end of the route and points out some of the monuments and some history of the pass. One thing I couldn't get any info on was the abandoned tunnel entance between East Glacier Park and Essex. Can someone enlighten me?

I just downloaded the patch, but the left engineer's wiper on the ES44 is still not workin? Any one else still have this issue?

I'd rather fix things than complain about them, so here we go! *!!wink!!*
I have a temp fix for this if anyone has similar issues, the only thing is that to fix it, you need either Sherman Hill or the NS Heritage ES44s.

ALWAYS BACKUP! Just in case of a mistake.

Instruction:
Naviagate to your RSC Assets folder.
Railworks>Assets>RSC
1. go into either Shermanhill or ES44NSHP

Now go to the following location
RailVehicles>Diesel>ES44AC>Default>CabView

Then copy the three files titled, es44ac_cab_wipers01.ban, es44ac_cab_wipers02.ban, es44ac_cab_wiperspeed01.ban

Now we will place these into the Marias Pass ES44 folder.
RSC>MariasPass>RailVehicles>Diesel>ES44DC>BNSF>CabView

Paste the three files into the CabView folder

Overwrite the .ban files for the wipers in the Marias Pass ES44 folder.

You will now have fully working wipers!

Again please use caution, hopefully RSC will fix this, but for now, this should work just fine. !*salute*!

Good man. I did a similar thing spread over three scenarios, but haven't done anything with them...

I'm sure you'll find that the abandoned tunnel between West Glacier (surely?) and Essex resulted from re-routing made possible by more advanced surveying technology? The route was known as the Hidden Pass IIRC, and the fact that they managed to cross the pass at all is pretty remarkable, so I guess the current line just represents an easier routing for modern needs.

There's a similar location just west of Browning where you can see evidence of the original routing.

I do have this problem as well, though for now I'm just pretending that BNSF is waiting for a GE technician to come out and service the locomotive. !!det!!

Great fix though! I assume that RSC are working on it but didn't make it as much of a priority as the missing couplers, so they focused on that first!

Thanks for the info!& I was wondering what the embankment was for near Browning. You guys did a great job at adding all the small details and I must say I am enjoying this route! Just uploaded my second scenario to the workshop and working on a third! !*cheers*! **!!bow!!**
