The rolling stock looks absolutely great, especially the clerestory passenger carriages, but the presence of standard gauge freight cars alongside the narrow gauge ones leads me to ask whether a narrow gauge engine could handle standard gauge cars or even a mixture of standard and narrow. My guess is no, but someone here surely knows and, I hope, will tell.

In places where narrow gauge and standard gauge shared a dual gauged yard, engines assigned to switching would have an extra offset couple in order to couple to the cars of the opposite gauge or an idler car was used. The Rio Grande and East Broad Top are two railroads that did this. The East Broad Top also used to lift standard gauged cars being interchanged and swap out the standard gauged truck for narrow ones. I am unsure if the C&S had anything similar. They had dual gauge all the way into Denver, and I believe their main transfer yard was there.

Interesting article and some great looking rolling stock, but somewhat academic for those geo-blocked on the road-name. Surprised ours doesn't come painted safety orange or hot pink so we cant cheat.
A serious question now - does anybody know why this road name blocking doesn't seem to apply to Trainz rolling stock? This is the only sim it seems to be an issue !*don-know!*

Just a thought...

I would almost presume that DTG are the only ones who actually asked... either that or Auran somehow got an exclusive license for bnsf livery's for their game

Thanks for this information! So far, I've only seen steam engines depicted with the upcoming narrow gauge route and hope that it may eventually include some power with the offset coupler you described.

You are not *!lol!*

A BIG RG NG fan - have made 9 trips to the D&S & C&TS, Georgetown Loop a couple of times as well at the CSRM at Golden - no mean feat from the other side of the world !*roll-laugh*! (there is a pic from my latest C&TS visit this year in the Jungle). There is just something about the narrow gauge. Even though it is narrow, locomotives are relatively large in comparison and work hard.

Bring it on...

THE BEST PART OF THIS RELEASE IS THAT IT OPENS UP NG TO DTG. THAT MEANS THAT NOW THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE 3FT NG, BECAUSE THERE IS AN OFFICIALLY LISCENCED NG ROUTE.

bad news.

the dual guage track isnt "functional". only the stock specially built for the dual gauge yard will work. notice in the screenshot below, the caboose is centered like normal **!!bang!!**

The caption below that picture clearly states that both the stock car and caboose in that picture are standard gauge.

"To bring life to the dual-gauge trackage around Golden on the Clear Creek Narrow Gauge route, a selection of standard-gauge rolling stock will also be provided, including a stock car and caboose (above) as well as other equipment. "

I think he means the Standard gauge stuff that comes with the route is different then the other SG stock we have at the moment. Notice how the caboose is "Offset" from the rails a bit. I think the SG Stock is offset from the NG track a bit as to match up the SG rails.
At least it is what i see !!det!!
