It's always interesting when you go to do a paint job that you have to pick a date or in other words take a picture taken at a particular time. First thing that happens to me is someone tells me I did something wrong. It usually turns out that they are looking at a different picture from either a different locomotive or the same one years apart after the paint was changed. I always go to a couple of beta guys that have a pretty sharp eye but they have the advantage of knowing what I was working from. Anyway I bet that the aforementioned paint job is correct from the picture the guy worked with. It is not a guarantee of what the date that the route is from. I can hardly wait for the nit pickers to start on what building isn't exactly placed correctly or has been torn down or heaven for bid might be painted the wrong color. !*roll-laugh*!

No doubt there will even be complaints about the graffiti being wrong *!rolleyes!* ...

HA! They already started the day RSC released a batch of photos near the area where the buildings exploded along the Metro North, making it an issue that it should be removed before they released the route. And my initial thought was "these folks cannot be serious". Yes it was a tragic event, but for them to request something removed because of what happened a week before, after DTG put in all that work, was pretty asinine!

Of course, if the route were set in a period of time prior to March 12, 2014, the question would be moot anyway. Unfortunately, they're not kidding; and that sort of objection actually tends to trivialise this sort of tragedy. It isn't the first gas explosion or fire in Harlem by a long shot: the area has changed drastically since I first rode trains through there in the mid-'60s, when there was tragedy on a larger scale.

There is a reasonable explanation, that photos used for loco prototyping were taken at specific period of time . So, paintwork doesn't match to the current loco's state . That happens quite often in modelling world

I'm hoping for a same day as the New York - New Haven Route for the HHP8 with some kind of a package deal. Didn't they do something like that with Marias Pass and the SD40-2 pack?

Yes, as well as the "improved" ES44DC with the Pacific Surfliner. The only difference between the Marias Pass ES44 and the "new" $20 ES44 with the Surf is a different BNSF heritage paint scheme.

Sad to see that it was not released today but nice to see more shots of the "Hippos". As well just finished my ACS-64 raised letter K5LA just in case RSC again failed to at least try to make the right horns for it.

ES44DC Heritage have super-bright headlight with "corona" effect seen from a distance, and going dim at close. F59HI have similar light settings.
