When heading westbound, the BNSF Scenic Subdivision reaches Puget Sound at Everett, a mid-sized city some 25 miles north of Seattle. In this view the main line is in the foreground. If we were to travel a little farther to the right, we would enter a tunnel that passes beneath the city on its way to Everett Station. The other tracks belong to Bayside Yard, which is technically part of the Bellingham Sub. The yard serves the Port of Everett, including a container port and this cement-storage dome. In the background we can see part of Naval Station Everett, home of the Nimitz, and to the right a glimpse of the Kimberly-Clark complex. This scene is a collection of GNTX custom objects along with some third-party models and a few old familiar faces.

Exiting the east end of the tunnel, it's suddenly dark! This shot, originally composed by Jim Friedland, gives you an idea of the station facilities. Amtrak's Empire Builder stops here, as does the Cascades. It's also the northern terminus of the Sounder commuter service.

Continuing eastward we pass through the bedroom community of Lowell where we begin to see the flat, agricultural plains alongside the meandering Snohomish River. We haven't enabled distant terrain yet, but when we do you'll see the beginnings of the Cascade Range from here.

Not all rolling stock shown is necessarily included.
