Everett

Unread postby ricksan » Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:39 pm

When heading westbound, the BNSF Scenic Subdivision reaches Puget Sound at Everett, a mid-sized city some 25 miles north of Seattle. In this view the main line is in the foreground. If we were to travel a little farther to the right, we would enter a tunnel that passes beneath the city on its way to Everett Station. The other tracks belong to Bayside Yard, which is technically part of the Bellingham Sub. The yard serves the Port of Everett, including a container port and this cement-storage dome. In the background we can see part of Naval Station Everett, home of the Nimitz, and to the right a glimpse of the Kimberly-Clark complex. This scene is a collection of GNTX custom objects along with some third-party models and a few old familiar faces.

Exiting the east end of the tunnel, it's suddenly dark! This shot, originally composed by Jim Friedland, gives you an idea of the station facilities. Amtrak's Empire Builder stops here, as does the Cascades. It's also the northern terminus of the Sounder commuter service.

Image

Continuing eastward we pass through the bedroom community of Lowell where we begin to see the flat, agricultural plains alongside the meandering Snohomish River. We haven't enabled distant terrain yet, but when we do you'll see the beginnings of the Cascade Range from here.

Not all rolling stock shown is necessarily included.

Since we got the Classic GN streamliner with the "Empire Builder" DLC maybe RSC will re-release P42DC and superliner car set with the WIP Stevens Pass DLC for the Amtrak "Empire Builder" train. We can hope, can't we?

Wait, If this is a partner program by RSC, is it "RSC's next NA route"? Or is there another route in the works at this time being made by RSC themselves?

I believe RSC is also working in-house on a North American route.

Does this make a difference?

I was reading in Coal Age Magazine that the coal producers are having problems with transportation when it comes to exporting through any Washington ports. They are siting that BNSF lines to Washington lack a bit and one that was mentioned was Stevens pass. Since BNSF only limits 28 trains a day across the pass this is causing problems of getting more Powder River Basin coal to export terminals in the area. Stevens pass is the shortest route available between the two others, Stampede and the Columbia routes. The Cascade tunnel is the weakest point of the route.

Wow, that is a beautiful route! I love these routes that run through the woods instead of in the desert! I'll definitely be getting this one.

Yes, because on the other topic there was a lot of hype for a new American route. I was just wondering.
