Those look like Donner trees. They should double check that they will look right in Marias Pass.

I'm not entirely sure, but aren't the trees in the forests of Montana quite tall and towering over the landscape? In pictures I've seen that was something that I've always noted about the Rockies and Northwest.

That last shot is an early one where I was testing assets and terrain textures to see how stuff sad together.
Some of the trees are from Donner yes, and some will get updated.
Early in the dev cycle it is always wise to set up place holder assets so that content are not held up.
As for the size of the trees, some will be taller some won't the aim is to capture the feel of the route.
170 miles is far! :)

Indeed, Northern Conifers trees have a much wider base when "in the open" and almost no base when they get really bunched together in a forest.

Derek please make a BNSF ES44 with this route and it would be nice to see some new BNSF Freight cars.

Here's a great picture of trees along the route.

@Buzz

Did I read somewhere or was I imagining things. Have you heard that RSC will bundle a re-worked Amtrak P42DC Genesis with Marias Pass for the long haul cross country northern US passenger route traffic?

What does "re-worked" mean in this case?

You know re-worked as in fixed up, and repainted.

Those trees are huge! What environmentally allows these trees to grow to such heights? Rainfall is normally pretty low annually in the Rockies.

The Rockies stretch from Mexico to Canada and there is nothing like a uniform climate along them. Generally, the western side is wet and the eastern side dry because of the rain shadow effect, but since parts of them have very wide valleys between separated ranges, then that pattern can repeat itself several times moving from the west to the east. Also generally, the father north you go, the thicker and wetter the forest is. It's cooler more of the time, so snow lasts longer and it just doesn't dry out as much. As someone who lived for years in northern Wyoming (and also Colorado and New Mexico), I can tell you that parts of some of the ranges near Yellowstone stretching up into Canada never get dry. They are not Washington rain-forest wet, but they are marshy and green all year when not covered in snow.

I thought that the reason all the G-TraX stuff got pulled from Steam Store after the infamous "October TS2013/Railworks4 Update" was because the assets had to be modified for "Quick Drive". You will note that the G-TraX SP GS-4 loco is back on Steam Store DLC by popular demand. We are still awaiting the remainder of the products, Class-S Berkshire, SP&S Northern, and Amtrak P42DC Genesis, to be put up again. G-TraX LtWt Passenger Car Set got posted on RWA Library as freeware.

So "re-worked" to me means that we will get these locos back as DLC when they are "Quick Drive" ready.

And, of course, Marias Pass needs an Amtrak trans-continental passenger train. What could fit the bill better that the Genesis? And RSC already has the loco and car set, right?
