You're kidding, right?!

NO, trying to say a SD45-2 is the same thing as a SD45, would be like saying a Dash 9 is the Same thing as a ES40DC. Buzz was the one saying I wasn't looking hard enough to find a SD45-2, I'd just like to know where he found one? Remember I'm not trying to put RSC or anyone else down, I'm just pointing out some of us are interested in era's other than the present. I'd also like to point out I'm old enough to remember when both the SD45 and SD45-2 were both produced and used in regular service on American railroads. Is it OK for someone to step on my toes, but not OK for me to point out what they have said is not accurate?

In this picture the first engine is a SD45-2, the second engine is a SDP45 and the third engine in the consists is SD45.

Seriously folks, don't try to blow smoke up my pant legs, this is not my first rodeo.

I know the difference. It was merely a typo. I don't spose you ever did one of those. *!greengrin!*

Buzz,
Was this a typo? "I think Rich hasn't been looking hard enough for some of these things he wants." In other words, you are calling me a idiot! Now what really upsets me, first you try to make me out as someone completely unaware by your previous statement, then when I mention what you said is not true, you try to turn it back around on me, Give me a break. I don't know, maybe "I'm sorry" is not in your vocabulary?

I turn over my king. You are right. I am sorry if I offended by thinking your wish list was a bit excessive.

Seriously, guys. :-) Do the words "tempest in a teapot" ring a bell? I don't think anyone has been intentionally insulting here, and my question was genuine. I wasn't sure if Rich was kidding or not.

We all have different levels of interest and focus. I can see Rich is serious now. I still find the suggestion a bit humorous. No offense intended. I certainly wouldn't call the differences "glaring." Flared hood and different cooling fans. Same chassis. Same engine. Same cab. And frankly, some of the Dash engines are very like their predecessors. Some ore more of an evolution than others.

There are always going to be versions of current models we do have that aren't done in the sim. But there are still plenty of engines that haven't been done at all. Although there have been some very nice ones that have come out recently, like the SD45 and the Alco, and although we have a Consolidation, I'm really looking forward to the new one.

Not picking a fight. Just found the claim that the Dash 2 was very different a bit humorous, that's all.

As the OP, may I also point out that we've wandered a bit in this thread....

Hurrah! That's about the first thing I've been able to follow in about the last three pages. Although we have a storm in a teacup where I come from... *!!wink!!*

Is there a soap opera called 'Marias Pass' out in the states? We are so behind here in NZ.

Griphos,
The point is, I found the original post that got this whole thing started to be insulting. When I said something about it, the other poster escalated, so from my point of view he was intentionally insulting. I'll go along with you that the SD45-2 is not very different from a SD45, if you agree a 2-8-0 is not very different from a 2-8-2? They both use the same boiler, cab and tender. But like you said, we have wandered from the topic of the original thread, so I'm done with this thread.

Wow.....this thread went from 0 to serious in no time. A chill pill is in order.

And for the record..... of all the SD45 variations, the 4200hp SD45X with it's 4 different sized slant radiator grilles and 4 engine cooling fans is my favorite. But the original SD45 with it's pointed long hood (as opposed to the flat variations) is the best looking variation of the series from an artistic point of view IMHO. It just looks slick! !!*ok*!!
EMD 2-strokes rule! My all time favorite: SD45X also love the SD40-2/SD40T-2/SD45-2/SD45T-2/DD35A/DDA40X/SD70ACe/SD80ACe

Ummmmm .....NO. It's an interesting oddity, but it's ugly as sin. I know we all have different opinions, but you really think the slapped on afterthought elephant-ears is the best looking SD45 variant? I'm just stunned. !!bang!!
