Looks like the textures are there just editied out. If I still had photoshop, I'd give editing them a try, but I can't.

I tried last night to change the horn and bell to the old searchlight simulations (i don’t think that was the company name back then) M3 horn and bronze bell which I could have swore were installed in the original CN SD40-2W. I had no luck...perhaps the file formats are not compatible. Has anyone else been able to do this?

Any word from the good folks at searchlight on potential future support for this engine?

Thanks

It's from the older Oovee 645E3 sound pack. Searchlight's newer free K3L is ideal for use with this DLC.

Just picked this route up and gave it a try. It is a nice route which recreates the operations of the area and presents some operational challenges with the steep 2.4% grades and switching opportunities. Just a few comments on the SD40-2W, this is defiantly an updated model from the original DLC which I will list out. It has undergone a bit more of an overhaul than I expected when compared to the original DLC I bought many years ago.

-New trucks
-Underframe appears to have been updated in some ways if not new for the most part
-More Canadian style like steps, the original DLC had default SD40-2 style steps
-Lighted number boards along with operating switch in cab
-Updated Cab with additional working switches including those for operating class lights. Textures are higher resolution than original DLC. Working cab light and switch
-Animated fans, not as nice as the default and other DLC SD40-2s but animated none the less
-Advanced braking script
-Comparing the original textures to the new ones, the mapping has changed slightly along with new textures for details. You will not be able to fully sub in other repaint textures in the library without some minor modification

It may not be the nice looking RRMods SD40-2W on the previous pages however it is a lot more respectable model than the original DLC I retired as a result of better looking units becoming available. This one deserves a second look and a couple of decent repaints could fill the void till someone is brave enough to put out a new model.

There are those who seem to speculate rather than taking the time to research exactly what they are getting with a product hence my post where many were concerned with the SD40-2W and would write off a nice route on the basis that it appeared they were getting the original DLC from many years ago which is far from the case. For those that actually purchased this route, they would be surprised to find that these GMDs got a substantial overhaul as noted in my last post that many of us had hoped for years since the original DLC was released. I didn't buy this product for its equipment, I bought it for the route, the updated engines turned out to be a diamond in the rough.

The loco may be nice but the missing logos on the grain hoppers is a bit of a pain and the route is pretty boring and not very well executed. I have requested a refund.

And you can use Jessie James reskins of Great Northerner's freeware Cylindrical hopper( model on http://golden-age-rails.com/ ) on the Digirails site if you want.
