The new version is uses the same route ID and assets folder. No matter whether you want to get the Steam version for one reason or another or get the update directly from us, the old version (v1 or 2) should be uninstalled first or there will likely be issues.

Since it uses the same ID wouldn't v3 overwrite any changes to v2?

If you clone the route and re-name it then it will have a different number.

I am very excited to get the upgrade route.

Will it have all the same integration with steam workshop as the steam version ? That is.. will it work with other workshop scenarios (such as the inevitable elphaba scenarios) and any career scenarios there may be?

THanks,

Chris

Of course! Thanks, Buzz. Time to give myself a dope-slap.

Hello,

Regarding Workshop -- all I can say at this point is that it *should* work. This is based on my experience with Stevens Pass, where I can up- and download scenarios from Workshop just fine (and of course I don't have the Steam version but only my own development version). So the same should be true for all of you who get the update directly from us / Trains & Drivers when it's done. The route will have the same ID and assets as the Steam version, I think that's all that matters to the Workshop.

Also, a quick status update on the V3 update package for Trains & Drivers: Our internal packaging and testing is nearing completion, looks like all is well so far. We should be able to wrap up the update package over the weekend and then Andreas can start sending out the emails as soon as he's back from his short vacation. The wait won't be much longer now.

Cheers
Michael

I was a little surprised that it was not an update to a steam key which seems like it would be easier for everyone but I am sure there are business considerations. Either way, it sounds like the workshop should work so other than having to store a backup of the route we should be functionally equivalent. I am expecting that this route will form the core of a lot of transition era workshop efforts in the future. Plus, it will make the New Haven guy in my modeling group envious :).

Thanks for all the work on this!

Hello everybody,

Thank you for your patience, now at last the wait is over and the update of the Springfield Line for everybody who owns version 2 is ready! Andreas at Trains & Drivers is sending out the links and update instructions now.

Please see here for a brief FAQ about the update.

Cheers

Thanks, Michael!

Are we supposed to delete Version 2 first?

The instructions VNHRR_v2-to-v3_TAD_Update-Instructions.pdf say,

1) Please make sure that version 2.0 of the Springfield Line is installed

The instructions in the email says,

2. Uninstall any previous versions of the route add-on

Thanks,

Alex Dunn

The simple answer is: it works either way!
You can safely keep the old version installed. :-)

I was expecting a rebate, not a free upgrade. Classy.

Also, the quality of this upgrade, even including a FAQ sheet for the free upgrade. is amazing.
Great job gentlemen.

Tough choice. Do I get V3 and run trains, or play the Battlefield 1 beta?
I'll be sure to check out the changes in a bit!

!*salute*! Bravo! I'm just part way through a free roam and this route just dazzles me. What a great job of capturing the era and the area. These guys from v2 still show up in a QD scenario. *!greengrin!*
