Why bother when NVidia is working with railworks. Just make it as a personal skin and post pictures only.

A couple of close-ups of Jupiter's Stephenson's gear. The geometry is nearly finished. I just have to add some more nuts and bolts and the equalizing spring. Animating it is going to be fun - there are a lot of moving parts that have to be positioned precisely (and entirely manually), 40 times for a full 360 degree revolution, and that process has to be done three times (for forward, neutral and reverse positions of the Johnson bar).

You're a sick man, when I throw that spring I know who to call. *!twisted!*

I think I found the original scheme guys and CPRR #63 is a cool engine to make as a repaint.

The more I see of this loco, the more I love it!

Comparing those two photos, and comparing them with the O'Connor Engineering drawings, it looks like Jupiter's cab, as well as the livery, has been modified. The cab on Leviathan in the photo matches the drawings, but Jupiter's cab (in the photo) doesn't. I'm building her exactly according to the drawings.

EDIT: nah, the cab's fine - I was tricked by the acute angle of the photo.

Lovely photo!

I'll probably leave it to the talented re-painters here to make new liveries. This could be a fun project for anyone interested in doing it.

Wow. This locomotive is coming out nicely! Will it be like all of your locos with HD HUD, Adv, etc?

That's right. It'll even have Simple mode.

I don't think I'll bother with an SD version though (it was a lot of work to make a separate SD model for the FEF-3 and in the end, I think hardly anyone ever uses it).

SD stands for "Standard Detail", as opposed to HD for "High Detail". Even the SD actually has far more detail than most locos, so "Standard" isn't really the right name, but I couldn't think of a better one. It just means it doesn't have as many nuts, bolts and rivets rendered in 3D and some of the textures are lower resolution (and a few other small details might be left out of the SD). SD was intended for people with low-end computers who might have had problems with the amount of detail in the HD. But as I said, it seems the vast majority of people don't have a problem with the HD (I did take great care to model the HD as efficiently as possible without sacrificing all that lovely 3D detail).
