Thanks for the kind words Buzz,
I once made a pledge almost a decade ago saying I and a few others would support RS for as long as possible.
We were given 3 months by a few, 6 months tops by others, but the feeling was we would not stick around long.
I have lived RS, RW and TS every day since then and it will be supported for a fair few years yet and nothing will get abandoned, it is just maturing nicely.
I'm not saying it has been all been a bed of roses and we will have more ups and downs, we had some luck of course and a bucket full of good will along the way, but we kept our word. :)
Sorry for the mistakes, we all make them, hopefully we make less in the future.

Long live digital train hobbies of all kind.

regards
derek

I need to stay away from the steam forum for a while. You can give these people clarification, and yet still they will find soemthing else to gripe about. For every question asked and answered, there is one or two more things to complain about. I just can't...

However, I'm glad to have found some positive in this, even before further clarifications were made on here.

I don't know what the big issue is. If you bought it, you can still use it. If you didn't buy it, you sure had enough chances. It's been available for how many years?? Gone on sale how many times??

Keep in mind there are new users to this forum and to TS 2016.

There are 23 route items in the Workshop that use assets from the NEC. Some are just repeated versions that would filter that number to about 15-16 routes.
But the main problem here is when you see this list of excellent titles:
1-Genoa Freeport Sub --- 1700 subscribers
2-Horshoe Curve modern --- 3630 subscribers
3-New Haven - Boston --- 1205 subscribers

Look at my example with the Bergen route:
I have been following the New York division - Bergen route since 5 or 6 months ago.
Before TS2016 I had not a single route required (there were only two at that time). By buying it I got Sherman Hill.
Then the author added NJT. I am a US freight oriented player, so NJT was not of much interest for me.
I decided to acquire NJT (and I am happy of it, considering the amount of dedication put on its support by others as FanRailer).
During the last sale I acquired Munich Augsburg, which I will probably use it once or two a year.

What I want to mean here is that some of us, buy routes only to have a Workshop route. In my case I have the Bergen route thanks to have bought 2 routes, I did not want in the first place. So here is why some people is not happy with the NEC dissapearance.

Those three excellent titles above, will get fewer subscriptions from now on (I particularly miss two of them, but I have the NEC in my collection).

But above everything said in this thread, I understand that Dovetail Games is an "enterprise" that build or buy products to sell them and decide to remove others from their inventories when they are in need of.
Intel i7-7900K (3.60 GHz) - ASUS Prime Z390A - 32 GB DDR4 RAM 2400 MHz
GPU EVGA GTX-1060 OC 6GB at 1920x1080, 144 Hz - Monitor ASUS VG-248QE
System Windows 11 Pro in WD SSD 500 GB. Games in Inland 1Tb M.2 NVMe PCIe

Maybe one answer would be if DTG no longer feels a route cuts muster, is to leave the assets on sale (in the correct file structure) perhaps at a token price to cover bandwidth and hosting costs?

This just came up on steam today. The announcement follows by DTG_JAMES:

In response to user feedback we have made the decision to remove the following add-ons from Steam pending further investigation. These add-ons are as follows;

GWR King Class Loco
BR Class 117 DMU + 2 additional marketplace liveries
HST Buffer Loco
Class 156 DMU
Amtrak Acela Express
Northeast Corridor
BR Stanier Jubilee Class Loco

Please note that this is only a temporary solution and we aim to bring all of these add-ons back to Steam after having fully investigated the issues that have been reported.

Anyone who has already purchased this content will still be able to access it through their game, though some workshop scenarios using content included in the items removed from sale may be adversely affected.

So it was only two American addons!

Sad news, even if route itself is dated, there are many dependencies on it's content in scenarios and 3rd party routes
I and other scenario developers used Amfleet cars bundled with NEC for Amtrak trains quite often.

I think this has been well flogged in the previous five pages discussing this subject. I think further suggestions would be well served by addressing them with DTG. My last comment is if the product is no longer sold can it not be assumed it has no further commercial value so doesn't it then just become part of the public domain for everyone to use?
