I am wondering whether there is a clue posted today on the Railsimulator.com farcebook page - it is a post regarding the Norfolk Southern and their status as an official TS partner. Could be just a colourful fish but it seems strange to have an official partner and they not be featured.

Just my **!!2cents!!**

You can now return to your speculations !*roll-laugh*!

!*cheers*!

They also made a post about the NYC Subway. Either would be interesting to run.

If we're adding wishful thinking, I'll wish for The Key West Extension! *!lol!*

Wouldn't that be nifty. I just wish we could get any of the FEC to the community.

Yup, hasty generalization is how I roll. Seriously, you're right that I'm making a sweeping generalization based on one example.

Hack wrote:An example I will use is the areas of San Bernardino and Colton. Within a 1-mile radius there are 5 subdivisions (Cajon, Mojave, San Bernardino, Alameda, and Yuma), 2 branch lines (Riverside and Redlands), plus 4 yards, 3 of which are substantial (SB A-Yard, SB B-Yard, and West Colton).

Right, but it's all BNSF. The problem in the midwest is that ownership and such is pretty weird, and interlining happens much more because it's where the eastern and western railroads handoff to/from each other. It means there's a lot more "stuff" happening that adds to complexity. Not to say it's not impossible to find a solid midwestern route with manageable complexity (I even listed some), but a lot of them are really weird. Good points though Hack, and you are right that I did generalize quite a bit in using the BNSF Aurora Subdivision as my case study in complexity. That said, I still think a lot of the really good Midwest routes (such as the BNSF Aurora subdivision) do have complexity issues that would need to be addressed, and that it probably would play a role in decisions about whether or not RSC were to develop such routes.

Same thing that's fun about racing past an endless series of trees. Namely, whatever you want. I'm partial to medium passenger routes (NEC and London-Brighton are great) others are partial to long-distance routes hauling miles-long trains, still others prefer small switching opportunities. For me personally, I could have fun with a subway route, there's probably enough to keep me from being bored especially if they modeled one of the express lines.
