I couldn't agree more, but somethings should really be free out of generosity.

This item would fix a problem that shouldn't truly exist. (This time I'm looking at RSC)

(Though RSC does get a point for giving the people who owned a DLC a free upgrade when it's re-released)

But getting involved with sounds is a pain and its a hassle to record your own sounds IF you can even find someone who will let you. Anthony just happens to have a good source close by and brings us some great sounds because of it. I think if he wants to he can put a price on his sounds, specially if it covers several locomotives. This is a pack I will be buying myself, matter of fact while its fresh in my mind I'll go get them now !**duh*!!

Hmmmmm... Well....
Just one problem with some of those videos.
1. Engines sound different when under load than when stopped and in neutral. When a loco is in run 8 under load, like climbing a pass, there is lots of current being drawn from the alternator/generator assembly, which results in the assembly being much harder to turn at the specified RPM, per notch setting.
The engine gets more fuel delivered by whatever governor assembly and gets throatier. As the load on the engine increases, the exhaust gets hotter and the turbo spools up accordingly as well.

I've never really thought about it before, but I wonder if that's why some of the sounds are off. Because the recordings weren't done under load. It would explain why the GE engines sound kinda right, but no bark in the exhaust note.
It would be like trying to get a recording for a sim of NASCAR, with the car in neutral.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.

If one does not have anything good to say, one must not say anything at all.

I really want to give my thoughts on this release......

here is SD60 running on neitral (not under load)
it seems have lower idle RPMs? but on notch 8, there is very subtle difference (if any)

SD70

also, under load you hear traction motors whining and gear howl

It is possible to make sound records under load on a still loco, using load test mode. These tests usually performed after repair.

for those who work in the locomotive depot, it shouldnt be a big problem.

Actually, it is a big problem, and part of why the SD60M didn't come with quality sounds to begin with. BNSF doesn't allow non-shop personnel near locomotives when under load testing.

Anyone know if it's possible to alias the sounds to Ian's SD60?

Do SD60M and SD70M/MAC have the same height of engine hood?

I compared new UP SD60M with UP SD70M from Sherman hill, and they have notable difference in height.
The same about green BN SD40-2 and BN/BNSF GP38-2 from StP. Difference in hood height is obvious, if they are coupled back to back.

no they do not have the same heights of engine hood, you will also notice that on some locomotives the walkway's will be at different height which is prototypical. hook up a GP9 to a Gevo and see the size and height difference lol!
