Single clasp brake shoes (meaning a lower independent brake maximum pressure value in the engine simulation), rubber secondary springs and a shock absorber on one end of each axle are the only differences I did notice.

Correct. The F40PHL-2 is a Dash-2 model itself, hence the prototype riding on a Blomberg M trucks.

let me be clear here. I don't mind anyone pointing out something that may not be prototypical. What I object to are all of the snarky comments like 'epic fail' and 'doesn't DTG have any quality control' and 'don't they have any beta testers' and blah blah blah. Just leave all that junk off your post and you can point out anything that your anal little minds notice. The rest of us can then go one enjoying our hobby.

Agreed. After the first couple of times, it gets dry. I have my complaints as well, but 98% of the time, its discussed outside of the forums with someone with similar interest, opinions and perspectives. Then I also think to myself. I have no skill in making any of this stuff. I personally feel DTG makes decent products, which they give it only 70-80% as far as authenticity is concerned, much of the time. Some of it is out of their control, which I can understand. But then they do have licensing for something, they still exercise "creative control" by copy and pasting certain aspects of their products, which is corner cutting. And it's a bit unfair to all of us as a community who are pretty invested into this simulation, when you have a company that prides themselves on authenticity, but won't put that kind of quality into their products.

To change the subject, another member of the community is making repaints for the bi-levels and F40. So for those of you who weren't going to get this because of the lack of a prototypical repaint, you will soon have one.

Re: EMD F40PHL-2. Brake Gauges That Still Don'Work

Has anyone created a fix for the non- functioning brake gauges? I know Mike wrote some time ago that John is the one to ask.... any guidance toward solving the issue would be greatly appreciated. drbarryk
