What you are referring to is Title 49 CFR 230.17. It is not based on mileage, but service days.

Here it is in full:

a) General. Before any steam locomotive is initially put in service or brought out of retirement, and after every 1472 service days or 15 years, whichever is earlier, an individual competent to conduct the inspection shall inspect the entire boiler. In the case of a new locomotive or a locomotive being brought out of retirement, the initial 15 year period shall begin on the day that the locomotive is placed in service or 365 calendar days after the first flue tube is installed in the locomotive, whichever comes first. This 1472 service day inspection shall include all annual, and 5th annual, inspection requirements, as well as any items required by the steam locomotive owner and/or operator or the FRA inspector. At this time, the locomotive owner and/or operator shall complete, update and verify the locomotive specification card (FRA Form No. 4), to reflect the condition of the boiler at the time of this inspection. See appendices A and B of this part.
(b) Filing inspection reports. Within 30 days of completing the 1472 service day inspection, the steam locomotive owner and/or operator shall, for each steam locomotive inspected, file in the place where the steam locomotive is maintained and with the FRA Regional Administrator for that region a report of inspection (FRA Form No. 3), and a completed FRA Form No.4. See appendix C of this part.

Excellent news. A few weeks testing, tweak anything that needs tweaking and then into the DLC release schedule, so she should be an Easter present !!*ok*!!

You can now have a rest and a contemplate about what is next. Given all of your long and hard work on this, I hope the reward outweighs the effort - it will be well deserved.

My post from before Christmas and as yet, it is not even a whiff of steam on RSC's all important Farcebook page, so I don't hold much hope for a pre-Easter release. I tried contacting them direct for information on a release promised nearly 6 months ago (the Big Boy V2 "new custom sound pack" and all I got from that was the expected dismissal and told to watch the Farcebook page, which has never had a mention - its all about Brit routes and boxes. If its not on the ol FB page, it aint happening)

Anyway, nice to see Mike has moved on to the UP 800's (check out his FB page *!embar*! (Mike - is the plan only to do 844 or is there chance on others, black, grey, no deflectors etc. Were the 800's a unique UP build or was that Alco model used by other roads?)

!*cheers*! from down under... Just wish somebody could take my money !*roll-laugh*!

*!!thnx!!*

Things are getting better and better. I also got plans to buy both UP's V2 and Consolidation. Doing a very good job. Can't wait to drive it!

Re. the Connie, not long to wait now *!!wink!!* ... coming very soon to Train Simulator 2013!

Yes, I'll be doing as many variations as possible of the FEF-3. FourEightFour has already given me some very helpful information about paint schemes.

The one I'm doing is an FEF("Four Eight Four")-3, which was very similar to the FEF-2 but converted to oil burning. As far as I know, they were built specifically for the Union Pacific.

!*cheers*!

When can we expect a thread on the FEF-3? Last I saw, it only had a couple driving wheels completed, but it's coming!

$20 is worth it. Thanks for the heads up.

I hope you all enjoy running the Connie (at last!) :D

It's the standard price for a loco, so I can't complain. At least one person posted on facebook that he's a "very, very happy customer" because he didn't expect it to be so advanced. It's nice to be appreciated :D

!*cheers*!

Mike

P.S. I didn't do the latest screenshots on RSC´s facebook ... it wasn't me who put different numbers on the loco and tender !*roll-laugh*!

One thing mrennie, I cannot get the whistle to work all the time sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. !*don-know!*
