Stunning! These have my name on them, for sure - I only hope we get BN and SP locos too, at least.

I wondered about that lip extending over the headlights: it is there on the Santa Fe prototype as well.

I suppose it is to keep the rotary beacon on the cab roof from distracting the crew by shading the short hood's top from the beam striking over it.
Strange also that this model still has the "hippo eyes" bulging style of class lights, later blanked out by Santa Fe.

I was mistaken about the turbocharger bulge. The GP20 didn't have any round bulge, only a small part of the hood, about two doors wide was set a couple of inches outwards, just under the central air intake on the engineer's side.

Thanks, dude, I surely was.

Recently found back my "2nd Diesel Spotters Guide" so I could refresh my memory. There have been several turbocharging experiments on GP9 and GP18, using various turbocharging units and henceforth custom carbody varations in the hood, number of louvers, stacks, air intakes, bulges here and there. The GP20 was the first factory turbocharged road switcher from La Grange.

The little book also helped out on the SD45 trucks and brake cylinders.
Apparently EMD introduced the low mounted brake cylinders in 1968 to make the rodding to the brake shoes simpler and auto-adjusting.
Alas, in that era of detoriating rail, those low mounted brake cylindes got damaged quickly in even small derailments.
So the advantage turned into a disadvantage and was not repeated on the subsequent Dash 2 line of 1972.

I wonder if we can expect a start up procedure like his Centipede. Also isn't the GP20 a 2nd Generation Diesel?

Technically in between. The GP35 was the first of the 2nd Generation EMDs as I recall.

I find it cool that raindrops can be outside the cab now.
