Anyone who was involved in the building or development of Saluda Grade.....you should be mighty proud! I have been exploring the route and actually completed the coal delivery to Skyland....all I can say is...WOW!!!! Great job, and I love the motive power. I am very familiar with this area and I must say that you folks have done a wonderful job! I highly recommend this route!

Best Regards,

Galen

One Question....where are the screen shots saved in the game? Most go to "My Pictures", but I can't locate the Saluda Shots?

Thanks!

Hi Galen:

The screenshots should be going to the usual location, if they're not we'll need follow-up with DTG (which we will).

Mine are going to the usual spot. I just love this house. So far this route gets five stars from me. The scenery may be the most immersive done yet. A lot of time and love went into that part for sure and the running is a real challenge on this roller coaster. !!*ok*!! !!*ok*!!

My burning question, is there any timing circuit or run-away track modelling included? I am curious to see the motive power, and the GP35.

Thank you,

As posted earlier to High Iron Simulations' Facebook page:

A NOTE ABOUT THE MELROSE SAFETY TRACK
There have been a few questions about the Melrose Safety Track, which is not timing enabled. Reasons for this include technical limitations (especially given that different types of movements were allowed varied descent speeds) and that diverting a train into the short safety track would certainly create a derailment. Such derailments are inconsistent with the purpose of TSC and are not a representation of railroading that our brand partners deserve.

In reality, derailments at Melrose were a thing of the past by the time the route represents (1980s-1990). The last major derailment at Melrose was in 1971.

As seen in the screenshot below, runaway track #2 at Melrose is modeled.

Galen, mine are always in: Steam\userdata\95374654\760\remote\24010\screenshots\
As far as I know, that's the "usual" location.

Been a long time since I've been around but I'm back. Projects to share this fall.

Meanwhile...

The new Saluda route looks amazing. And I wanted to share a video I watched some time back that provides some interesting information:

Training video for running a train down Southern Railway's legendary Saluda Grade.
This was produced shortly after the 1982 merger between Southern and Norfolk & Western.

Doing a bit of testing on the new Saluda grade. on the scenario "3rd climb" I replaced the supplied power with Searchlight Simulations SD40-2s. With the supplied power as expected I was able to reach the top and finish the scenario. Using the SS SD40-2s I was only able to bring the end of train across the bridge at the start of the scenario then stalled just passed the start of the climb. Can someone poke under the hood to see if there is a difference in power/traction curves for both. I am of the thought that there should not be this much of a disparity.
