My thing is, usually once we start seeing pictures of stuff, they aren't really making any major changes, especially texture wise.

I have no complaints about the textures. If anything, having several different UP yellows and grays by several different devs looks kind of silly in 1 mixed consist.

My young friend as a guy who lives near the main UP line out of Chicago let me tell you there is every color of yellow and gray you can imagine with the different ages and locomotives on the line. The only thing you see on some models is the new paint is too yellow and not mustard enough but variation of color is more the norm than the exception.

In Canada we are very proud of our old CN locos in all shades of pink.

I'll agree with the yellow and gray thing. UP doesn't care.

Back in CNW days it was similarly a kaleidoscope of yellows some faded faster than others. What’s new?

CNW had 3 different yellows though. Old yellow, Zito Yellow, and new-old yellow.

Add weathering into the mix and it was a disaster.

You never knew what would come next though, disaster for the PR people but for the fan interesting. For the developer/repainter.......plenty of scope.

The CNW green was not much different. It was from like a forest green to a green that was almost navy blue. I think that the salt ("Steel Moths") used on roads in the Midwest played a big part of it. I can safely say that Yellows will drive a re-painter nuts. *!!wink!!* Stefan

Being from the east coast every shade of CSX blue is the same no matter the weather or age of the locomotive. !*roll-laugh*!
Seeing a bunch of faded colors looks strange to me because that's all I know !*roll-laugh*!

It looks nice even in its raw state because of the different radiators and trucks.

It this about the last unique EMD shape to be offered commercially?

Picked the Santa Fe up today from their sale. Pretty nice. Nice sounds and overall very attractive. I don't care for their headlight flair but I have a mod from other stuff that will work to get rid of the glare. I haven't tried this with the stock shaders just with RWEnhancer so it might be less annoying that way. The rest of it is a very buyable unit. And to top it off I found one little problem and he sent me a fix in a hour. Now that impresses me.

I would like to chime in on this thread. First, I have the impression from the comments that there is an assumption that errors or flaws noted in the model would not be corrected. I hope that impression is incorrect. As you may be aware, I have personal experience with Martin of Travel by Train and what I noticed was that he appreciated any information that I could give him, in particular when I backed that up with photographs and source material. My impression was he was VERY eager to get accurate information and put that into his model to make as true as possible to the prototype. While there were some things he couldn't correct like the font, I tried very hard to get it for him, and when I couldn't, I let him know that it was a close as could be with what he had to work with.

Martin was the first of 3 different developers I have worked with, and it is my impression that the amount of research time required to evidence particular features and characteristics of a model can significantly eat in the time to actually build the model. And I know - I put in 20 hours of research for Martin finding images and good logos for him.

I would say that this developer is committed to making the best product he can and appreciates any help that we can give him. So don't be shy, reach out with issues and help him out by sending him images and evidence of what you have found. Where I am coming from is that we each can have a relationship with the developer (if they are open to it) and help make a better product for all of us.

Yes, I am biased - but that shouldn't diminish my commentary! *!greengrin!*

Keep up the Good Work Martin

I concur with minerman’s comments..... I have multiple units WP, ATSF, UP, BN made by Martin and I am very pleased with each one and extremely thankful for every one of them I can get - the same for every other author out there. Who else out there is making or even considered making B30-7a?, or equally as rare, a GP40X...... AND, for these low prices????
