After I get this installed and working hopefully we can come up with a plan similar to the one used here to get logos and names into the new route for authenticity.

In his most recent post he said we dont have to if we are applying the update. It will install over and it will update the assets that update and leave the assets that were excluded:

In other words: if you own v2 of the route, you will keep all the old engines and stuff, just get the udpated and new things added on top. Much simpler and easier that way, for everybody.

And since Tom and I are posting at the same time get the rolling stock to work on these scenarios. Fun times. Something to tinker with.

Just be careful until Michael chimes in here. I'm not sure the same rules apply to the Steam download and the one from T&D.

Hi guys,

ChrisNH wrote:In his most recent post he said we dont have to if we are applying the update. It will install over and it will update the assets that update and leave the assets that were excluded

Yes, uninstalling the old version is no longer necessary. !!*ok*!!

The only downside to this is with Workshop integration: you will need to check your scenarios for the rolling stock and remove any items that are no longer part of the 3.0 roster, or nobody at the Workshop can use the scenario. For that we have complied a list, which you can see here: http://vnhrr.blogspot.de/2016/08/spring ... pment.html
Anything not on this list is not part of 3.0 and will cause trouble for subscribers at the Workshop.

OldProf wrote:Michael has already informed me that some of these will not run on version 3, due to track changes, but a few posts in this thread indicate another reason: lack of some rolling stock excluded from v3.

Yes, this is sadly quite complicated. However, with the massive changes on the track network (and the necessary changes to the roster), there was no real alternative for us that to simply make the changes and then and fix whatever that breaks on the older stuff.

DrewG wrote:One question, for us with the V2. Will we keep the logos on the rolling stock?

Yes and no. Some of the old cars got overwritten with "de-logo'ed" versions, some have been removed. So you'll keep the ones that we removed from 3.0 when you update, the others will get their logos removed too.

Will it be possible for us to overwrite the de-logo'd ones after the install as a quick and dirty way to get some of them back?
(I am not a scenario making guy yet, I just know enough to push stuff I get into some of the existing scenarios)

Was this with the ones that used the USRA 40' model?

Sorry Micheal! That's what I did, took about 30 seconds to get them back. Before you install the new version, make a copy of the VNHRR assets and then install the V3. Once isntalled just copy the railvehiles/freight folder into the new VNHRR folder. Logos returned!

Texture file names are all still the same. So yes, if you back those up first you can copy them back in later, after applying the update. Works on all cars USRA and others.
Edit: saw your edit, lol.

Are there any that have been improved in v3 we should not be copying over? I am thinking we only want to push back in the ones where the logo is removed.

All of them! You should only keep the old textures, all cars have had at least minor tweaks to geometry and/or blueprints. Some got quite major updates or bugfixes.

HI Gang,

Have all the T&D upgrade emails gone out? I don't see one yet.

REALLY appreciate the free update! Very nice of you and happy to have paid anyways (since I bought the steam version earlier this week).

Thanks!

Ok.. so I copied over the texture folders from the freight cars. I got to watch the potpurri of foreign road cars roll by in an opposing freight (much to my daughters delight). Thanks for the tip!

Now I just have to hope workshop scenarios use those cars as much as the stock scenarios do.

I do seem to have some oddness with standard scenarios. Some of the old RS3 ones appear to still be there and there seems to be less then I would expect. I need to delete the old ones, clearly, I just hope I didn't do something that would make other standard scenarios not appear.

Lots of career ones though! I will investigate that later. Having fun now.

PS - there seems to be an oversupply of little yellow scooters.. need to find a way to tweak that.

Chris, there are no Standard Scenarios with v3. We converted a few of the old ones to Career and swapped some equipment, which is likely while the list of Standard scenarios from v2 looks shorter after installing the update. "Inbound Freight", "Last Train Home", NB and SB Passenger runs, and a few others were changed in that way. Also, I will keep updating the old scenarios to use the new route's tracks and equipment and upload them to the Workshop. The aim is to get ALL of my old scenarios uploaded to the Workshop (and create many new ones, too).

Re the yellow scootes -- we thought we had fixed that twice already, for whatever reason it refuses to go away. !*not-ok*!
