This is a shot in the dark, but the RF&P Sub. It runs along the eastern seaboard. or maybe a route from Wilmington to Hamlet NC with connections to the other short line railroads. And connections to other CSX Lines. But I'd settle for Sand Patch

I hear you Buzz, but Routes and rolling stock go somewhat together...

Wanting a historic route, naturally means era apropriate rolling stock / locovotives, hence the discussion. DTG really dropped the ball after HSC, even after sending artist(s) over from the UK and having the run of the Strasburg museum. Their US contributions have been very ordinary as previously mentioned. Most of the UK steam now is 3rd party. Routes everywhere seem to be modern. Maybe that is what people want - NOT ME! Only run VNH, RWA and an occasional HSC because I only ever want to, and do, run steam. I have Dick's collection, Ricks collectionand Mike''s collection and am looking forward to the Victory S for something new.

Everybody wants something different.....me, I want to use it as a time machine, to recreate in a small way what was...

!*cheers*!

I have no idea what they might do, but things I'd like to see:

Cumbres and Toltec
Moffat Line out of Denver
Something from N&W steam period
Feather River Route
And I'm still surprised there is no Tehachapi yet!

Personally, I'm a bit tired of DTG's typecasting American Content with Amtrak, and especially freight. I would like to see more commuter routes, Electrified, preferably. And yes, because I'm from the NY metropolitan area, it would be nice for them tap into more american commuter rail networks.

Like the Hudson Line on Metro North, which, like the New Haven- New York section, could spawn Another Amtrak route, that serves both GCT, and Penn Station, which are served by the Maple Leaf, Ethan Allen, Empire Service that serve points north, well past Albany (which I wouldn't personally mind if they decided to use as the termini, for Amtrak of course), While the Metro North Services, which for DC Electric and diesel operations, terminate at Croton-harmon and Poughkipsee, respectively. The DLC for those, long awaited, and heavily requested, I believe, would be so awesome.

Or..

If they want to sorta just leave Amtrak mostly, altogether, they could take on the LIRR netwrok from points east of NY Penn Station, out to Long Island. Possibly do the entire network, which I think is possible, being that I was able to run an Impressive freeware network route that spanned the entirety of Denmark (Dubbed, Northern Europe), with little, to no problem. But there's a lot of interesting routes, both like the above route I mentioned, is also served by DC electric and diesel operations, that are situated in and out from the NY metro area..

Though, I do agree with those who mentioned NJ Transit, as well. There's just lots more to America, than Freight, Amtrak, and primarily diesel train routes. I think the New York - New Haven route, is by far the best American Route they've created, though there was some misses on it, like the occlusion of the Danbury, and Waterbury branches. But it's still their most ambitious route, IMHO.

Off-topic, somewhat... The AMfleet cab car, is so long overdue as well.

Uh, I did say that just above and several hours before, no? *!rolleyes!*

I wonder how this will affect the availability of their Cajon and Steven Pass routes. No matter tho', as theirs plenty of good CSX/NS/UP areas to pick from.

I'm from Canada and I can still purchase Stevens Pass I don't know about Cajon because I owned it before that license issue. No BNSF locomotives show up in the store but the F45 and F7 do I guess the license is for just BNSF and not its predecessors.

I can remember, at one time Greensboro, NC used to serve 94 passenger trains a day; hence the name "The Gate City".

Speculating what DTG will do for a route next...? No idear.

If I could make suggestions to them:

The Fraser Canyon - CN on one side, CP on the other. Opportunities for two passenger services, and potentially commuter operation with the West coast express depending on the time period.

Snoqualmie Pass - MILW mainline, plus switching and branchlines on the edge of Seattle. Some NP or BN lines would be easy to include again depending on the timeline. I don't know if a license would be required for MILW trademarks, or if CP holds them, but either way it would be easier to work with them then BNSF.

I have an honorable mention of my home track, the North Jersey Coast Line. I also feel the Chicago racetrack (Metra) and the Keystone Corridor Philadelphia-Harrisburg (includes Silverliner V, Keystone cabcar, AEM-7 AC) are also good choices.

Are licenses necessary for routes? I don't think so, when you avoid any trademarked roadnames or markings/logos.

After the RSC debacle over Donner Pass and "the Indians", every US route seems to have been commisioned from third parties.

But a commercially attractie route should come with alluring (promises of) rolling stock.

I want a WV N&W route with 611.

Tacoma To Othello WA would be a grand route.

Something with Chicago in it. A Midwestern route is LONG overdue.

However, someone on Engine driver did write a nice article asking for the Moffat tunnel route, which would also be great. That could be done modern day with UP stuff, so they could release it as a new UP route.

I'm still crossing my fingers for the BNSF Hinkley sub from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Superior/Duluth, maybe with additional CN trackage to Two Harbors, Proctor, Steelton, and Ambridge as well! Or maybe MSP to Fargo, that way we would have more of the Empire Builder. But a route in the North Midwest, especially in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin, would be excellent.

Realistically though, I think the next route will be Tehachapi Pass or another iconic route set any time between the 1980s and today. Another '50s route would be fantastic though, or even one based in the 1860s.

Agreed. I did a article a while back on the UP lines but honestly seeing that they have licencing for BNSF and Metra I think the racetrack would do. It's shorter and has just about everything. Imagine simulating a entire rush hour for a scenario, that would be insanely awesome.

A license isn't required for the route but why would you make a route with no stock? I feel like there's not a whole lot of market for a route that came packaged with, say, a generic orange ES44AC.

Have Sherman Hill, Marias Pass, the Surfliner, New York-New Haven, the NS Coal District and Soldier Summit not all been produced by RSC in-house?
