They threw in the Ca Zephyr because Rio Grand ran their own passenger trains into the 80s. They didn't want to become part of Amtrak.

Well I'd love to see the Rio Grande Zephyr, but DTG is including the F40PH set with the route.

Didn't realize that.
Ironically the F7 set might be more prototypical.

I, for one, really look forward to it's release. It would be great to have Utah Railway's RSD-4/5's and RSD 11/12's (alligators)...lugging heavy unit trains! Also, DRGW SD45's (Not SD45-2...the RR never owned them) GP-30's...GP40's etc. For the 80's, it would also be great to have open autoracks! I think that would really add to the period.

Just my thoughts,

All of DRGW's track charts are available online, and probably provided the base for this route's trackwork. Google Maps and USGS DEM data provides the rest.

It is then up the route builders to decide which manned station or unmanned control point to use and model their buildings, etc.

Helper-Provo is two main tracks with CTC, but I am unsure if the signaling was bi-directional.

I'm working on a better colored F7 and a set of cars for the Zephyr. The first ones will be G-Trax cars. We shall see if DTG decides to let us know which cars they might provide before I decide what else to do. The Empire Builder cars can probably be done D&RGW colors. The late ones were silver so we might need to use Dick Cowen's cars for that. We shall see.

Looking forward to this route and the ground textures look amazing. Would like to see the new desert textures used in the original Cajon Pass route.

Yes...this looks like a must buy. I am a little disappointed in it's length. With the exception of Cajon Pass (and to a lesser extent...Sherman Hill), all of the famous, heavy, long haul, North American mountain routes for Railworks have been 100+ miles in length. Adding the extra 45 miles north/northwest to Salt Lake City would have certainly been preferred over going any distance east of Price to get the route over the 100 mile mark. It would give you some locals as well as some of the MP36PH-3C powered FrontRunner commuter train action between Provo and Salt Lake City.

But at least they got the red meat of this route included and that is what is most important. !!*ok*!!

Well, I've just had a look on Google Street View and SLC is big, and could possibly take a month to build with all the industrial and residential areas, they probably haven't budgeted for that to go on the route, both in time and money, so, what you see is what you get, although, I completely agree with your sentiments, these recent routes seem to be shrinking in size, must be Government cuts, or, something....... !*roll-laugh*!
