I'm pretty sure CSX is actually more prototypical on the original NEC, in fact more than NS is but I could be wrong. Also CSX has trackage rights on the new NY-NH Route but as far as I know it's mostly locals on both routes so it would be uncommon for an ES44 or MAC to be used.

But it would be proper on the NEC NY-NH for a local switching job that had GP40-2's for power.

There is a tiny slice of the C&S sub modelled on the HSC route at Johnstown. I believe that would be serviced by the Rockport Turn.

That's what I meant to put in my post. IIRC, CSX is the only railroad with the steerable trucks on their units.

Nope. Iowa Interstate as example, use steerable trucks on their GEVO's as well as Ferromex apart from their AC44's.

I don't know, the CSX yard 5 miles from my town has had an ES40DC for a few weeks now that they not only use for yard switching, but it's been on the daily local job to the industries in my town a few times.

What purpose do steerable trucks serve?

Nobody on here has pointed it out yet but the gevo numbers are very small and compacted compared to the actual numbers.

They cut down on wheel and rail wear by allowing the truck to follow the contour of the rails rather than being rigid in turns switches and so forth.

Ummmm... sorry to spoil your fun, Buzz, but I think that's what they (and you?) want us to do as beta testers. !!det!! !*don-know!* "Pre-release rivet counting" does sound funny though.
There's not much else to check/test on these two since they are basically repaints... sort of... the steerable trucks are new modeling and maybe some other detail that I'm not enough of a rivet-counter to notice. I'm just trying to make sure they get rid of the UP sticker in a cab.

Since the steerable trucks are used on mountain routes, I hope they will add the new "multi-difficulty" braking feature on the ES44, but I think that takes some special programming. Supposedly that feature is not backward compatible.

I inquired about other future CSX works and the reply was that there are "several things planned" but not a route yet. To me, this sounds like a good opportunity for folks to campaign for a midwestern (I'm thinking IL) route.

I'm happy just to see they got the colors right.

I swear my beta testers to report privately not blather on on the forum about all the stuff they find. Someone just commenting doesn't qualify as a beta tester in my world. I want my people to find the stuff before it goes public not after.
