Archived Twitch preview stream for the ALP-46. Electric sounds and e-bell appear recycled from the ALP-45DP; horn from the ACS-64. I am still angry that Dovetail is too lazy to add Multilevel coaches.

Too Lazy??? You would complain no matter what. Multilevel coaches will be there eventually. Chill out.

That's because DTG will probably NOT listen to the fanbase and just release them with the Comet cars. The Comets are already present with the base route and F40PH-2CAT, so might as well build a new set of coaches as ALP-46s mostly run with Multilevel cars, although they also often run with Comets. If they don't do that, I'll just keep my hopes high and release the Multilevels with a PL42AC if they make one. The problem is that the Multilevel cab car will be configured as a diesel locomotive, not an electric as the Comet V cabcar included with the ALP-46 is configured as an electric locomotive, therefore the physics simulation won't be as accurate.

I rest my case.

I have a question about the Comet cab car and the ACSES program. When I use the ALP-45DP locomotive on the route, the ACSES in-cab signal displays the speed limit when I enter the command Ctrl-D, but when I use the Comet cab car I can't see the in-cab signal speed limit displayed when I activate the ACSES system with the command Ctrl-D. Is there a trick to using it in the cab car? If the speed limit isn't displayed in the cab car, how does the real-world engineer know the track speed limit?

The Comet V's cab signaling is a little trickier to understand. Read the manual for more information.

When under a cab signal restriction, the SDU in the Comet V will display a colored bar. So long as that bar is completely green you are under the signal restriction speed limit. As soon as that bar begins to turn red, that means you have exceeded the speed limit and must slow down until you do not see any red in the bar anymore. Additionally, it helps to actually know what the specific NORAC signal aspects are, so when you pass a signal that isn't at clear along the route, you know exactly what the speed limit is for that specific signal restriction.

Thanks for the information regarding speed restrictions based on signals. Since there are no speed limits marked on the side of the tracks, how can you know the posted normal speed for a section of track? Must these speed limits be memorized when driving the Comet cab car?

Just tried to set up a free roam for NJCL local service which short turns at South Amboy; discovered that DTG forgot to electrify an important turn-back siding LOL. In the attached picture, "South Amboy Siding 1" should be electrified, but isn't =P

^^ The latter on the Comet V will also apply to the original ALP-46 models (4600-4628) as their speedometer is a similar screen; same for the Multilevel cab cars. The ALP-46A utilizes a cab signal display more similar to that on the ALP-45DP, which appears to be easier to read by most people.

I have attached photos from my Amtrak Train Days visit to showcase the cabs of the Multilevel cab car and ALP-46A for reference.

Does anyone know if there are any silent crossings on the route IRL, or are they all crossings that require sounding the horn?

From my knowledge, there are no quiet zones along the Coast Line.

I contacted DTG about the NJT F40PH-2CAT bugs and they confirmed that a patch is in the works. Hopefully it doesn't take too long!

Really glad to hear news on that. As soon as they patch it I will not be surprised to see a physics and sound mod for it. Does the Comet V included have 9 notches as the F40PH has 8?
