I highly suspect they hash the .ap file, so altering it may invalidate the route... but... I think some experimenting is in order to prove that theory.

Good Idea, Bob. See new thread http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=9556 that I started for this issue.

OlPaint,

In general (i.e. whether it's couplers or something else) I think the idea is to add back the custom assets in the folder structure as you've outlined. What is in the folders will take precedence over what's in the .ap file and won't get "set to default" when you verify the files.

This is all based on guesswork as RSC has provided no information on the new file structure. (Edited to contain facts only.)

Bob.

I have to say, it's working perfectly for me, this is the first time that I can run with settings maximized, even with TSX off it looks excellent.

The older items are 32bit and will be of no use in a 64bit environment, so, if you plan on only 64bit Max then the .dlu is all you need. When you set the path for you RW install it appears to look for an XML file in the dev/shaders folder so I guess there's no need for any of the old stuff..maybe there will be guidance from RS.com, but, as in the past, I'll not hold my breath waiting for updated documentation or guides of any description,,,they couldn't even be bothered putting the commands for the terrain/track export in the TS2014 Docs.pdf.

Wait just to clear things up, you only have google maps in the game, you still have to import terrain right?

so I see that max 2014 doesn't even recognize the old kuju materials which is lousy because now I have to try to replace all the old materials. is there a way to read the old materials? even .ace files aren't recognized now.

This is interesting. Yesterday everything ran. Now I fired up and there is not one single third party route that will load. Oh boy.

Are the texture files in DDS format? I seem to recall reading that somewhere...

yes they are now. newer max will not read ace files without the kuju art plugins from old times. so that's a fun time trying to reapply the new material and figure out how I applied the old ones.

Ok guys, I made a separate forum for TS2014, this thread is getting way too many subtopics so start new ones in the new forum and see if we can keep all this new stuff together. Locking this up.
