I have three desktops; one for web stuff, Net Flix, You Tube and gaming, the other two just run Folding @ Home. I've tried a few older laptops, they just don't stack up to what some of these newer laptops can do. Hey, it's the evolution of the species, right?

Main rig:
Phenom II 970 Black Edition
GA990XA-UD3 board
8Gb G Skill RAM 1066
EVGA GTX670 2Gb

Oh, and IIRC, that "reference" was to "Dragnet" !!*ok*!!
Ryzen 7 2700K, Asus Prime X570P, 32Gb DDR4, 2x 1Tb M.2 SSD's, RTX2060 6Gb, Occulus Rift

It looks as if RSC are taking a direct poll of what people want to see in the future of Train Simulator 2015 and beyond. However they cleverly hid it as "tell us what you expect to see in TS2014." It seems that we're not nearly in the minority as I thought, from what I gathered the top two wants are better performance through multi-core support and for better physics. Multiplayer is following a close third but I honestly am not interested in it.

Interesting. Has RSC posted any comments yet? They cannot be that oblivious to the fact that hardly anybody cares about career scenarios but instead wants some real improvements. And has wanted these for a long time.

Multiplayer can be fun but will be difficult to implemement in a free running railroad environment. Run8 has taken the IMO right "railroad" approach, with a dispatcher in charge and train drivers subordinate to him, just like in the prototype. Cooperative multiplayer in TS2014 without a dispatcher and CTC is probably nothing more than different players driving different (former AI) trains in a fixed scenario. When there are no conflicting opposing/crossing paths, SPAD is enforced rigorously on trains following each other of the same path under ABS, it might just work for a while.
Until somebody gets bored and starts playing naughtly, wants to create havoc, or simply logs off. It also means registering and logging in to a dedicated game server. Will that server come with Steam?

Some of the requests on that poll are hilarious!

So far my favorites off the top of my head are requests that the pedestrians be dressed appropriately for the weather and that they have smiles on their faces because they look too surly! Yes... those were somebody's priorities for a railsim! !*roll-laugh*!

A lot of the requests are just the stuff we've been asking for, now let's see if they listen. They can't say we didn't tell them directly. They are the one's that asked the users. *!greengrin!*

I see quite a few people complaining about physics, when it's clear (to me anyway) that in some cases (not all - a few points are valid), they don't know what they're talking about. I very much appreciated the comment from Woody (BNSFdude) !!*ok*!! Thanks Anthony.

I love the fact that no one is asking about what will be in TS2014, but what they want to be in TS2014.

RSC, this is your customer base, not some punk kid playing Call of Duty on XBox 360, they're never going to play TS2014, so stop trying reach out to them. Instead, take care of your core custmers, the real railroaders and railroad fans who want more realism, not more "arcade gameplay".

They ask a different question: "What do you want to know about Train Simulator 2014?"

Nevertheless an interesting read.

The only reason I bet that they're making Donner the primary route for the US is to try and recuperate losses from the massive fail that the original DP was.

No, Donner Pass is located in California.

California is still a magic word in worldwide marketing.

Wether the present Donner Pass is a right choice for default USA route remains to be seen.
It is rather long, slow speed and somewhat boring, despite the scenery. Perhaps some new features like improved draw distance will offer impressive mountain vistas with snow capped High Sierras visible for tens of miles around? Eyecandy over substance to lure new customers to your game.
Customer appreciation and commercial succes is equally dependant on nice and interesting trains to run over Donner Pass in competition with the UK and Germany route.
I doubt new customers will get the Cab Forward or a SP streamlined passenger train, or even an AMTRAK passenger service when the current DP is a freight only DLC.

We'll have to wait and see.
